I am absolutely losing hair due to Kratom, as is my mother. I am in quite a few Facebook Kratom groups as well and this has become a very popular post. Seems to be an issue for a lot of people. I had really thick hair and have only been taking Kratom 6 months. My volume is at least half and nothing has changed but Kratom. My mother also started the same time I did and is having the exact same issue. Handfuls coming out while brushing or showering. An alarming amount. I know no one wants to dare say it's the Kratom but for me along with my mother it definitely is. I am just praying it will stop. I started taking more vitamins and biotin the last couple months but it hasn't stopped. I also just ordered Moringa that arrived today so that is net on my list to try. I am scared I will end up bald soon if it keeps going. I am heartbroken as I love my Kratom. If anyone reads this and has a solution please let me know. I will try anything that will allow me to continue my Kratom use without going bald. Thank you.

Welcome to the best kratom forum ever, KratomMom!

This is ALARMING news! I would be crushed if this happened to me! You poor girls!

I would discontinue using Kratom immediately if my hair was falling out and nothing else could have caused it (assuming it’s not progeria).

I would DRAW THE LINE THERE and QUIT.

Just my personal thoughts. I’ve gotten BETTER HAIR in the past year now. But I take a lot of supplements in addition to kratom.

What a shame. I hope you both discontinue use and try to save what you have left! Also see a dr for blood work check. Sounds like a serious vitamin deficiency and biotin is one of a 100 different vitamins/supplements that CAN HELP. I use moringa for menopause and it hasn’t helped much.

Keep us posted?

I’ve never heard of the vendor you are using, so can’t help there. I value my hair more than kratom! And that’s SAYING A LOT.

At a minimum, I would switch vendors!

Hi I’m the original poster. I have alcoholic cirrhosis. I was hospitalized for liver shutdown about 6 months ago, and a month or so after I left the hospital, I started losing hair like you described. Obviously my liver was very damaged. I was taking lots of hair supplements like biotin, magnesium, basically anything that mentioned ‘shortage of this in the body can cause hair loss’. I finally saw a dermatologist he said it was telogen effluvium. It’s a hair loss cycle after a system shock. Mine was temporary. But like Laurie said, get bloodwork and a liver screen. See a dermatologist too. I still take kratom and my hair is all back. But I’d check out your liver!

And obviously, stop the kratom like Laurie said. Because if you mention it to any doctor, that is the first thing they will say.

I am so happy to see your comment. I have had this problem and so have many others and unless a cool vetted person has this same experience, people are generally gaslighted, dismissed or laughed at if they mention this. You basically cannot mention side effects without being ganged up on no matter where you talk. I think some people are sensitive to radiation, myself included. All kratom goes through "kill steps" (UV, gamma) and is also x-rayed due to custom regulations. Some kratom is radiated more than others and then some is pasteurized on top of that. Some people are sensitive to the processing of kratom and others are not. I wish more people were taken seriously when they reach out. They aren't trying to hurt anyone --- they want help.

When my mom just touched a mango, her whole face would blow up and she'd need immediate medical intervention. When I eat split peas, I break out with eczema. It's life.

Nobody is saying kratom is "bad". Kratom is wonderful and has been a godsend in my life, but life is complex and not everyone can tolerate the adulteration due to the processing of it.

Welcome to the best kratom forum ever, pinkgranite!

I was JUST thinking of this thread and hoping for an update on KratomMom (and Cori177).

Thanks for bringing the thread back up to the top!
Maybe the girls will see it.

Do you have any suggestions for combatting this issue?

I’m certainly hoping they got lab work done and perhaps a deficiency corrected?!

Thanks for posting.
Laurie
