My doctor, in a move to pad its pockets on others misery in the wake of the opioid crisis has decide since some insurers will not fund pain management that he will just skip the insurance companies and charge all pain management patients a flat rate of $200 with an initial rate of $250. I have had multiple surgeries on my back but even though, I only rely on a minimal amount of hydrocodone to help me through certain times of the day. Because of this I have built up a bit of a surplus and have decided to ween myself off. I have heard that kratom could be used to alleviate my pain but because it is not regulated I am not sure where to go and what kind I should get for my situation. I am hoping someone here can help me out with this. Thank you.

There is a approved vendor list. They all can be trusted. Red vein= pain relief/relaxation, green vein= moodlift, energy, pain relief, white vein= just energy and pain. Red Bali would be the best for pain, but I don't really get much from reds. Green is a good solid ground. I've heard that Vietnam kratom has the most alkiods in it. So just try looking up the color you want plus Vietnam

The approved vendor list frogs mentioned is found by scrolling up near the top and then scroll right.

For new kratom samplers, I’ve been suggesting some inexpensive ‘starter kits’ from Serenity Botanicals aka GABotanicals. I posted them for Bridget here over the weekend. Just a small but well rounded combination of strains to try. Let me know if you’d like me to find that post and get those links to you.

Welcome to the best Kratom forum! There is also a tab above called BLOG. There is dated but still relevant information there. A kratom history in editorials that really helped me get started.

Let us know what issues you’re facing and maybe someone can steer you to something they found good results with.

Starter kits are your best bet. If you can pick your own strains try to get samples of reds to start with.

It takes some experimenting but my favourite for pain is Red Borneo. I especially like it later in the day because it is not as stimulating as some of the other reds.

Then any of the other reds usually do the trick. Red Maeng Da, Red Horn, Red Bali, Red Vein Thai, Red Bentuangie all work for me for pain.

You start with 2Gms and adjust from there. Many people get good relief at that dose, some need more. A lot depends on your history of opiate use.

I take 4 to 4.5 Gms 3 - 4 times per day for chronic pain.

My doctor, in a move to pad its pockets on others misery in the wake of the opioid crisis has decide since some insurers will not fund pain management that he will just skip the insurance companies and charge all pain management patients a flat rate of $200 with an initial rate of $250.

AGAIN ...thanks for reminding me how glad I am to live in Canada! Honestly I cannot imagine how tough it is for people in the US trying to manage financially with your health care system managed basically by for profit companies.

In Canada it is against the law for doctors to charge patient privately for medically necessary care. There are many services we do pay for but not for those that are medically necessary.

Hello & Welcome pdog.:-h Happy to have you here! I would start with a few Red Strains like Red Borneo, Red Bali, Red Malay, Red Bentuangie, Red Maeng Da. These are all good for pain relief. You will have to Experiment to see which ones actually work best for you because Kratom will affect each person differently. I couldn't tell you which Strains would work for you.

Here is some Info:

Pain in all of its forms can be a hindrance for anyone who is looking to live a fulfilled and happy life. Sadly, the most common medications given for this condition are opiates, which can cause high levels of dependence and a variety of unpleasant side effects; however, kratom has been used very effectively for this purpose, which is why it is essential to find the best kratom for pain, so no one has to be stuck in between the two harmful options of pain, or addiction ever again.

Many have turned to alternative forms of medications in order to effectively manage pain, and so far the most effective of these is kratom. Kratom contains a potent blend of synergistic alkaloids which contribute to its high therapeutic index and make it free from the almost all of the side effects that plague traditional medications. However, because of the variety of alkaloids within different strains, all kratom for pain relief is not equal. Currently, the best kratom strain for pain is up for debate because of variations in strains and growing conditions. However, certain strains have been proven highly effective.

Where to Start: Kratom Strains for Pain Management
When searching for the a good kratom strain for pain, a good place to begin is in the Sunda Islands. Most kratom strains found in this area, such as Indonesia, have naturally developed a great alkaloid blend to this effect, however, they can also be sedating. For those who want pain relief with little sedation, many Malaysian kratom strains can also be very effective.

Indo, Borneo & Bali
Traditionally, Indo strains, including Borneo and Bali strains, have been considered some of the best kratom strains for this purpose. The reasons for this is the high amounts of 7-hydroxymitragynine and mitragynine found within the leaves of these plants. However, because of the lack of other stimulating alkaloids, they tend to be sedating overall. Luckily, these types of kratom are still much less sedating than standard medications.

Malaysian Strains
Malaysian strains, especially green malaysian varieties, tend to be effective for kratom pain relief and tend to be less sedating than Indo, Borneo and Bali strains. Because of this, these strains can be great for anyone who wants a treatment that doesn’t interfere with energy levels.

While this is a good road map to using kratom for analgesic (pain-killing) effects, it is not the territory. Because each individual has different brain chemistry, the only way to find the best kratom for pain is through testing. For those who aren’t looking for a particular strain, red vein kratom tends to be overall better for pain relief than other strains.

Kratom and Pain: How does it Work?
One of the most common questions I am asked is why kratom is so effective in this regard. However, in order to understand the answer, you have to understand how pain works.

When an injury occurs, such as a bruise or burn, affected nerves send a message up the spine to the the central nervous system and brain, which causes a variety of neuronal responses. One of these responses is the production of endorphins to reduce the perception of this pain. These endorphins attach to mu, delta and kappa opiod receptors, which result in the much needed relief.

Alkaloids found in these leaves, especially 7-hydroxymitragynine and mitragynine, function very similarly to the body’s natural endorphins. Once they reach the brain, these kratom alkaloids attach to opiod receptors, especially mu and delta, and can reduce the perception of pain of all varieties, from the sharp sting from a cut to the dull bone deep ache of back pain.

Because of this, when looking for a good kratom strain for pain, you will want to find a strain that is high in mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitraginine content.

Preparation Methods for Maximum Effectiveness
Because of the solubility of alkaloids found within kratom, it is typically not a good idea to make tea out of the leaf if using it for for these purposes. The reason for this is that many alkaloids may not be fully absorbed into the water, reducing effectiveness. In order to remedy this, many have taken to methods such as using capsules, mixing the leaf powder in a juice or in yogurt, or what is known as the “toss and wash” method, which involve taking the powder whole and washing it down with a liquid. For those who don’t mind losing slight effectiveness, check out our guide on how to make kratom tea with recipes and more.

One of the most amazing things about kratom, unlike other medications, is that it is a plant. Because of this, we have the ability to breed strains for specific qualities and features, which can make for an even more effective treatment for pain and reduce any potential side effects in the future. Many have gotten off of opiate medication and now live much more fulfilled and happy lives thanks to kratom’s amazing properties. I hope you have a better idea of where to start a personal search for the best kratom for pain, I wish you well.

Kratom, the new sensation in the medicinal world, known to have a pain relief effects is substantially replacing opiates as analgesics.

Containing the alkaloids 7-hydroxy mitragynine and mitragynine, this herb, generically called Mitragyna speciosa is a potent pain killer.

It has been used for ages to get rid of the acute and chronic pain, but only recently it has been considered by the scientific society as a replacement for opiate and related drugs that given to patients who suffer from severe debilitating pain.

In this article, you will get a dosage of kratom for pain relief.

How does Kratom act as an analgesic?
The alkaloids present in Kratom, mitragynine, and 7-hydroxy mitragynine are responsible for the analgesic effect.

These alkaloids act on the opiate receptors found in the central nervous system. Opioid receptors are of three types; delta, kappa, and mu.

These receptors respond to the alkaloids present in Kratom.

Through signal transduction, they send a message to the neuronal cell, and it acts by increasing the output of enkephalins and endorphins.

Enkephalins and Endorphins are part of the analgesia pathways of the human body. They work by suppressing pain signals at various points in the pain pathway.

These points located at the spinal cord level and the anterolateral spinothalamic pathways.

So basically, Kratom helps in the suppression of pain by increasing the levels of certain neurotransmitters present naturally within the human body.

For what types of pain is Kratom used?
Kratom used for various types of pain. The pain could be acute in nature or chronic.

However, people, most use it for chronic pain that cannot settle by any other medication like Acetaminophen, Hydrocodone, etc.

People also use Kratom for pain instead of morphine and other opiates because it has a lesser tendency to develop tolerance and dependence.

Usually, after surgery people take Kratom to get relief from the excruciating pain. Kratom commonly made by individuals who suffer from cancer and maladies that involve intense pain related to cancer.

Women usually use Kratom to get rid of the pain that associated with aging. This pain is due to osteoporosis, menopause, joint stiffening, arthritis or muscle aches due to loss of elasticity.

Kratom can also be used the relieving pain of torn muscles or tendons, after accidents and heavy exercises.

It is used commonly for back pain, fibromyalgia, kyphosis and scoliosis, joint inflammation, carpal tunnel syndrome, synaptic nerve pain, fractures, reconstruction surgeries, etc.

Is it a safer option as compared to other medications?
You should be a 110% confident while using Kratom as a natural treatment for pain. Unlike other drugs (Vicodin, Hydrocodone) it is safe and highly effective.

It considered safe because it is not addictive like opiates. The alkaloids present in Kratom do not interact with the cell machinery in a negative way.

The side effects of Kratom are fewer if used responsibly. Mild side effects include nausea, a mental fog which goes way if the dose is adjusted.

In all the documented cases of Kratom usage, there have been zero incidences of any serious injury or fatality.

Which is the best Kratom for pain relief?
All types of Kratom act as an analgesic, but certain strains are more potent as compared to other strains.

These strains have a higher content of mitragynine and 7-hydroxy mitragynine thus they act as better analgesics. Two strains that particularly used for the painkilling action of Kratom are Red Bali and Maeng Da Kratom.

Red Maeng Da and White Maeng Da both produce a considerable amount of analgesia. These two strains are responsible for creating numbness and bring about a soothing effect thus these are the favorite strains of many customers.

The analgesia lasts for hours, relieving pain like that of osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, osteomalacia, chronic backache, joint pain, rheumatoid arthritis, etc.

These strains produce sedation that helps in getting rid of discomfort caused by pain.

Red Bali Kratom has a prominent feature of analgesic action. The dose of this pressure should be carefully monitored to get proper analgesia.

A small dose of 2 grams is effective in producing analgesia. Those who are tolerant to the effects of this strain may increase the dose to 6 grams.

It cuts the pain allowing your mind and body to rest peacefully.

These strains of Kratom help you in carrying out the usual daily chores of life without causing any inhibition that chronic pain does.

They allow you to stay energetic and active throughout the day. Thus you can stay positive like you always used to after consumption of these incredible strains.

Dose of Various Kratom strains that can utilize as painkillers
Red Bali kratom: 2-6 grams
Maeng Da kratom: 1 gram to 5 grams (Red Maeng Da)
White Maeng Da kratom: 3-7 grams (Doses higher than 7 grams cause intense sedation)
Always remember that the treatment should start on the smallest amount. To find your sweet spot, gradually increase the dose.

Note: This data has been taken from drug user forums and based on experimental values. They are not standard drug doses.

Cost-effectiveness: Kratom vs. other medication
While getting treatment for pain, it should note what the duration of the treatment is. For chronic pain, you require a continuous supply of painkillers for years.

In a scenario like this, you need to get a medicine that is helping you with the pain and not crippling you financially.

Kratom, unlike other medicine, is very cheap and it can be found readily from online vendors and wholesalers.

You do not require a prescription for Kratom, neither do you need to see government agencies, or need to register for a pain management card.

If Kratom is used instead of other medication, you save up to 80% of your finances.

Summing up, Kratom is the best analgesic that one can go for. It’s readily available. It’s cheap, and it has almost zero side effects.
