The Red Bali and the Maeng Da should work well for you. I am not familiar with the other strains.

The only thing I would be concerned about I that they may be a bit stimulating for night time use.

Also a few details here might be helpful.

Do you have to take the methadone in a supervised setting? or do you have your own supply?

Tinkering around with other opiates would not be recommended...I am assuming these other opiates are illicit? VERY dangerous unless you have a test kit for fentanyl.

You really want the opiate receptors to down regulate. To keep on feeding them is counter to this purpose.

NOW...this is all up to you. You can try anything you like. CERTAINLY taking kratom in the fashion you have indicated would be MUCH preferred to taking illicit opioids. BUT , it is still feeding the opiate receptors so again ... counter to the purpose of downregulation.

We are concerned only with your success and your safety.

Bomally-
I do understand what you’re saying. I do not take anything “illicit”. No herion or anything like that. I’ve known too many people who have died because of this crazy epidemic and the phentanyl they stomp on it with! I am so glad I got out of that game before that all began!!!
I always try to find prescription narcotics and only take what is necessary to make me feel “normal”... or at least not sick and lethargic and dead inside........ so only one or two for a couple or a few days days until I level off on the new dose. Then I’m ok until the next drop. Which is why I thought kratom might serve this purpose.....

What strains would you recommended for a more calming effect?

I appreciate your advice and guidance and honestly just want to make sure I am doing the right thing before I do anything at all.
So thank you so very much!

My concern was that you are not in control of your own methadone supply. I understand that methadone must be taken in a supervised setting. It is nice to be able to switch over to Kratom before your opiate supply runs out so you have some on hand just in case, BUT if you have to consume it while being observed and you do not have a methadone supply of your own, this may be difficult, well impossible actually.

I cannot understand how you are getting other narcotics on prescription, this would be a very poor standard of medical practice unless your physician has agreed to this. So that is why I thought it must be illicit. Even if the drugs are prescription drugs...if they are not YOUR prescription they are illicit.

It doesn't matter to us here, we make no judgements, we just want you to be safe.

If you want to use the kratom as you have described then try it, I do not think it carries any inherent risk, but I do not see how it would be moving you forward to an opiate free life.

This is ONLY a best guess. We have no real evidence of how to do this.

One thing is for certain...IF you have a good Kratom supply when they cut you off, you will be able to treat yourself by using the kratom for WD symptoms.

I honestly think it will be easier than you are anticipating. But there is no way to know for certain until you try it. One thing we have seen here through individual reports is that there are a lot of individual variations in how people respond to Kratom.

I would recommend a Red Borneo for nightime. It is probably the most sedating of all the reds and works great for pain too.

Hi/. It’s been a while since I’ve posted.
I have to take the methadone supervised twice per week and 5 days i take it at home.
I am about to try it because I’ve given up getting the pills (not my scripts - no. A friends pills. But they work - but they hold me back. I am not positive how much to take? Any suggestions?

Thanks so much!

starting dose is 2 grams.

Take the Kratom instead of the methadone and then wait. When you start to feel WD set in take some more..maybe another 2 grams. Then wait and repeat this until it is time for the next methadone dose. You most likely will not need it.

Some people need very high doses of Kratom to prevent and/or manage withdrawal, sometimes up to 20 grams, and some people have reported needing even higher doses than that, BUT as long as you are feeling OK taking the Kratom and you are not sick from it or feeling agitated, it is perfectly safe.

We recommend the reds because they are less likely to make you agitated (feels like an overdose of coffee) and are more calming for your nervous system.

We cannot say it will be magic, or that you will not have to work in order to get off the methadone, BUT most people report it was a lot easier than they thought it would be.

You are right...using the pills is holding you back and using your friends pills is illegal, BUT at least you knew that the supply was safe.

IF you were using the pills to treat withdrawal when your methadone dose is reduced (I think you said that is what you were doing) then I do not see why you could not use the kratom in the same way, HOWEVER, it is still holding you back from being free of the methadone once and for all.

Just do not be surprised if you need high doses of Krato. If your tolerance to opioids is high, then you will have a lot of opioid receptors to satisfy in order to keep WD symptoms manageable.

But you will never know until you try.

Hi MaBell... I was reading and preparing for an experience similar to yours, except my demon is Suboxone and I decided to stop taking it two days ago. I was wondering if you could update us and let us know how it's going?
