Hey y'all, I'm in my 2nd wk of experimenting with Kratom. I've had more hits than misses. Brain surger for aneurysm which left with damaged nerves that won't die. It's mainly affects right face. It feels like a red hot metal rod is trying to come thru my face. My back hurts from morn till sleeping pill knock me out. I had a stroke during surgery left me with left side weakness. Feels like heavy weight. I'm not complaining about considering the surgeon told me when I woke up that I was lucky I could have been a veg. State. I'm blessed. So many pills for so many yrs.. I just might need my kidneys and liver one day. It's scary. I'm here to learn everything I can about these powders.

Hopefully we can answer any questions you have and help you with the Kratom experiment.

Quick tips
Its good to have a scale for accurate dosing to help keep tolerance low.
Stay hydrated
Keep notes on the dose and effects of the strains you try and which vendor.

Take care.

Welcome to the best kratom forum ever, Thistime!

This crowd is particularly helpful and empathetic regarding health issues, so you found the right place for tips!

Reminder: kratom requires colon management! No sense getting relief and then the tubes are all blocked!

Do a search on this website under digestion for in depth details and member suggestions and opinions.

I have more question than I have words for. Just got a scale. It weighs 1gm = .5 tsp. For the past 2 was I've been dosing .25 tsp. Never got results with any but whites at that dose. Now I'm increasing to 1g. Tried Red md this morn 4:30am as pain is my daily alarm clock. Still no relief. Everything I've read suggest reds are best for pain. I have several strains of the red white and greens that I will spend the next cpl wks trying again at 1g doses. The white md has worked great for my many mental illness issues, energy and even a little pain relief. The best result I have found is I can remember why I walk in to a room and remember what I did this morn/yesterday YAY! That's big for me. Pain relief lasts about 2 hrs. I took my last pain pill the day before I started Kratom. I know it takes a while for opiates to clear the body. Does this have anything to do with how I respond to Kratom. I'm not going back so this has got to work. I appreciate the suggestions. The scale would have been great to start with. I was a little scared and wanted to be safe with the .25 dose. 1 g of red had same result as .25. Any suggestions? Please

Yes, absolutely the meds are interfering with your benefits.

It’s honorable of you to use less than one average dose each time. But 2 grams are average recommended starting dose as well as maintain-over-time dose.

The further you get from the pills of the past, the more improved your experience will be. It’s not like the pills AT ALL. Feelings aren’t numbed and life is difficult. But, Rich!

Many folks use excess of 2 grams to compensate for the recent pill activity. That’s perfectly helpful IF you’re not going back to the pills AND you go back down to 2 grams within a couple of weeks.

Congratulations on your progress so far! You’re doing the difficult part. And not all strains work the same all days, even with a scale. Plant material varies and so does metabolism.

Be sure you manage your colon before it ruins your progress with a road block in the tubes.

Great report!

Looking forward to your next one!

Yes, reds are better for pain. Mix the white you like with red to EQUAL one or 2 grams TOTAL to get more benefits.

Trial and error with different vendor product will help you find leaf with longer legs like 3-4 hours, but about half of my favorites only last 2.

Well worth the hassle, IMO.

You are doing fine to start with lower dosage and working with a scale you can increase precisely.
Kratom is subjective it's hard to advise on dosing but for example I use lower doses of whites and greens and higher doses of reds to achieve pain management results. I take 1.5 grams of whites. 1.7grams of greens and 2.4 grams of reds.
Whites don't provide pain relief with the duration I need so I mainly take green strains during the day and red strains at night.
Laurie mentioned mixing (Hi :-h ) mixing works for many but not so much for me. I think because I am a lower doser when I mix my favorite strains I only end up lowering the alkaloids I need. But I still try occassionly.

Thistime:

You are getting some great advice and so I will just endorse what others have said and add a few tips of my own.
Kratom is an herb...you will need GRAMS not MGS to get any effect. Most people who come off opiates need well over 2 gms.

The opiate leaves your body and then the opiate receptors are empty, BUT the Kratom alkaloids take its place there, SO the more opiate receptors you have, the more kratom you will need.

This is WHY it is hard for us to say take THIS amount. Everyone NEEDS to experiment but it is a safe experiment. KRatom CANNOT cause any respiratory depression so taking too much MAY be unpleasant (most of us have been there - head in the toilet bowl type of unpleasant) BUT it is not dangerous.

I take 6 gms 4 times per day. Others here coming off opiates have had to take as much as 20 grams in a single dose to get pain relief and avoid withdrawals, BUT you can decrease that dose gradually once you have made the transition. I use mostly reds BUT often combine them with whites for daytime and sometimes I will take only greens if pain is more manageable.

Red Borneo and Red Bali give the best pain reief for me.

Thank you for sharing with us it helps us all to learn.

I’d say your most likely not taking enough.. .25 gm?? If I read right ... that’s very little , I believe I started with 2tsp, though I’m not saying do what I do/did, keeping the dose as low as you can while still getting the beneficial effects is ideal... maybe try 2gms and 45-60 minuets later take another 1/2 - 1 gm if effects aren’t being delivered.

Good form for switching over to this beautiful and kind leaf.
It’s good for what ails ya!! I’ve done the opiate path( years ago) it has its place , but for everyday maintenance this leaf wins the prize and is safer/more effective (imo) than prolly all the over the counter drugs available... and more effective at helping combat pain, and it’s buddies anxiety and depression.. for me anyways , than most prescription drugs...we’re all different bodies , but so lovely for my needs , hope you find great benefit from it as well

Take care

Brandon
