Hello Catspaw
So sorry you doctor is forcing you to taper and then off medicines you have found successful for you.
I get upset when they do not allow the people to make their own decisions.

I would try Green strains. I found they are great for anxiety. I take greens during the day and then switch to red strains at night.

You buy from Sunstone? I don't believe they offer specific strains from looking over their web site or I would recommend specific strains like Green Borneo or Malay.

Anyhow they are a few herbal treatment for panic and anxiety that I saw suggested on here but I do not look specifically to treat panic or anxiety so I am hoping some forum members will reply and make suggestions.
I only remember that passion flower was mentioned. Maybe Kanna.

I am sure you will get some better feedback soon.

We are here for you.

Best.

I wouldn’t. It’s extremely addictive. It would be fine for acute immediate anxiety, but long term use is dangerous and it’s very addicting once tried, from what I’ve read.

I tried it a couple of times and didn’t notice any benefits at all. Two different sources.

Kanna would be a better option, but it’s an S(N)RI and cannot be mixed with antidepressants. It IS a natural antidepressant. If an antidepressant is going to be used, it’s less expensive to get the SSRI’s drs provide through insurance.

I find kanna worth the expense, personally. I do not have good results with the pharmaceutical versions or I would take those. I get hives n stuff or MORE depressed when experimenting with those. But they are different for everyone and very well might be an option.

Have you tried the SSRI’s for your anxiety, Catspaw? Some are very effective since part of the disorder they treat IS anxiety.

Hi Catspaw,

Definitely avoid the kanna suggestion.

Have you tried valerian (OTC = Over The Counter)? I like it very much for anxiety as it works much quicker than benzos. Doesn’t last as long. It’s great for acute anxiety attacks versus benzos which only tend to PREVENT panic and anxiety and don’t treat ACUTE attacks. Just my opinion.

I’m sorry you’re going through all this. Would your dr consider a prescription for weed? That might help, tho it causes paranoia in some and is a lot of work experimenting to get the right product/dose (like kratom).

I have a therapist who sometimes comes up with brilliant ideas that hadn’t occurred to me. Do you have a third party person for support/suggestions?

It’s rough having to advocate for ourselves when WE DON’T FEEL WELL.
But if we don’t, nobody will offer help. Reach out locally for what others in your situation are doing? Surely you are not the only patient suddenly facing this dilemma. Asking for HELP is not something I naturally do - I tend to think, “I can HANDLE THIS BS MYSELF!”

But I’ve learned to ask and it’s surprising how much people are willing to help with IF ASKED.

I’m glad you have us here! We care about you and I’m glad you found us when you did. <hug hug>

Hey cats,

Ashwagandha, could be a nice thing nice thing for you, lowers cortisol( the fight or flight hormone) and gives you a sense of well-being, Is an adaptogen that helps my gf with her anxiety attacks, blends well with Kratom

2-3 tsp 2x a day ..... look into it , I think there great promise with this “ Indian ginseng “, it works

Just asking if you have tried any other treatments for your issues?

Just like the medication you take, Kratom can be a godsend but does not cure anything, it only treats symptoms.

My recent journey in chronic pain has helped me to understand many therapies that have been helpful (and some have not been helpful!)

I am in much more pain now than I was when I stopped taking oxy BUT I can manage it better. It does take a long time to understand how to manage pain.

Catch My Pain is a great app that has helped some people to understand their pain better.

I know it was scary BUT there is a life beyond medication.

Has your physician talked with you about other therapies? I mean if the doc is taking away medication is he/she offering something else?

You do not have to answer in this forum if you do not want to...BUT I just wanted to put it out there.

also would suggest some green strains...not as good for pain though at least that is what I find.

Haha. Some doctors really have no guts in claiming their territory of what prescriptions are best for their patients. I have taken tramadol for chronic pain and also Ativan for insomnia for a while now. Then my Walmart pharmacist decides to try to overide my Ativan scrip because there is a warning on the label regarding mixing opioids with benxos. My doc told the RX to pound sand and just do his job (fill the scrips). Unfortunately the RXs (Big Pharma) are pulling the FDA and DEAs strings and mucking up the system with power plays...and we the people (with pain and anxiety, and insomnia) get to absorb the consequences. Now I read that the AKA is playing games with lab testing to gain a foothold with the FDA. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely!
