Hi my name is Allison I am new to the Kratom World and to I Love Kratom. I love this site and have been reading/researching for several months here and have gotten a lot of really information as I start my journey. I had some problems with my first time ordering so I registered and sort of introduced myself in a different topic area but figured I would say Hi and a little bit about me in the appropriate area. HI :-h

I am a wife and mom of 3 grown boys and have 3 beautiful grandbabies 2 boys and a girl. I am also a puppy and kitty mom. I have 2 crazy awesome huskies that are lucky I love them because they are pretty naughty. I have 7 cats that live in my house, it’s a long story but I use to be into rescue of feral cats.
I have MS and a few other ailments mostly involving pain. My son is the one that brought me to Kratom. He saw my struggle with controlling pain. I blew him off in the beginning and told him he needed to stop taking it because it was dangerous, that is what my doctor told me but then I started researching and ended up here. I am hoping that with Kratom I will get some quality of life back. My life is lived on a 30 day cycle of refilling prescriptions and I am So So tired of being sick and tired.
I plan to start taking it on Tuesday and still have so many questions. It would be like writing a book if I asked them all and I am sure some of them are going to be a live and learn process.

Anyway I just thought I would say Hi and introduce myself. I hope to get to talk to everyone at some point in my Journey. I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Allison

Let me be the first to welcome you Allison.

It is good that you are doing research...it helps to build some confidence in the journey you are about to start.
I have been using Kratom for two years for chronic pain, so I do have some experience with managing pain.
We will help in any way we can!

You will want to get in a good supply of red strains if pain is your main concern. Red bali, red Borneo, Red Maeng Da, Red Bentuangie, Red horn, Red Sumatra, have all been helpful for me from a pain perspective.

So welcome to the big kratom experiment!

Surrealdreamer40,
Welcome again to the ILK forum. Best thing to do is go ahead and start Kratom. In the beginning start out slow and take as much as you need to get the pain relief you are looking for.
You will want to diversify you Kratom Strains Red, yellow, green are good for pain relief.
Place orders with a few different vendors small quantities of different strains try them for yourself and then reorder the strains you like the best
It is good to rotate different strains on different days of the week to keep your kratom experiences fresh and effective.
I would avoid ordering a large quantity of one strain until you try it first.
Good Luck there are some really good approved vendors on ILk you can order from.

I started out by choosing a bad vendor and almost decided against using Kratom because I was scared about trusting my judgement in choosing a good one. Thanks to Laurie for helping me get over that. I chose a good one the second time. I am kind of overwhelmed with all the choices its overwhelming how many sellers on the internet there are.

My son tried out my Kratom purchase over the weekend and he was impressed as I said he has only had access to smoke shop Kratom anyway he said what I got was really good, he actually took to much because he started out with the same dose he has been taking from the smoke shop stuff. He ended up very relaxed, he said it took his pain away. It was Red Thai. I need pain relief most of my pain is my spine and nerve pain. Since I will be stopping my opiate pain medication I will need something to stop the withdrawls and then energy I suffer from MS fatigue or what I call soul tired

I would like to find a couple of other vendors that are trustworthy and sell a good product. I dont know if its Ok to ask for recommendations of who others use and are happy with? I have read about the starting dose and finding the right spot but what I am curious about is if being on opiates for the past 9-10 years will that effect my kratom starting spot or my tolerance? I have read different answers on that with someone saying that its best to start with the enhanced strains? I am still a little bit confused on the enhanced stuff.

Thank You and have a great day

P.S If I am posting questions in the wrong spot please let me know.

SurrealDreamer40, I would encourage you and anyone else reading this post to go to Forum Index, scroll down to Find a Vendor/Rate a vendor and read other ILK forum members experience with our approved vendors. You will find a few of everyones favorites there as well as favorite strains.
Good Luck....

If you are coming off opiates there may be some unpleasantness BUT it can be controlled with Kratom.

This is really not that hard to understand. If you understand what is happening it becomes much easier to make a decision about what to do.

Withdrawal symptoms are caused by your opioid receptors being empty. The way to stop that is to fill them up.

There are two ways to do that...you either use an opioid or you use Kratom.
We do not recommend using both at the same time (you are basically defeating the whole purpose of getting off opioids by doing that).

LOTS of people come here asking us what to do. Our answer is always the same...just do it!

There is nothing to be afraid of. Kratom is probably 100 times safer than any drug you are currently taking. IF you take too much you will know it because you will feel really nauseated and probably throw up...unpleasant but not dangerous.

So you keep the dose as low as possible, increasing it as neccessary to manage symptoms.

This process unfolds over many days.

It is not magic.

Most people report that it is easier than they thoguht.

WE DO recommend:

Getting your opioid dose as low as possible before stopping altogether. This should be done with your physician's guidance on a taper program. Some people do not do this, they just stop the opioid and substitute Kratom. Often they find they need quite high doses of Kratom but that can be adjusted downwards once the transition is complete.

Staying hydrated while you transition to Kratom. It can be dehyrdating at the start so make sure you drink plenty of fluids (this helps eliminate the opioid too).

Keep your bowels moving. Kratom can be quite constipating...I find it much worse that even the opioid. You may have a bowel program already in place, but do a search on this forum for "digestion issues". It is an informative thread.

AND we also recommend keeping in touch with all of us as we can provide the support that is necessary to keep going.
Also ... we like to hear how you are doing!

Hello Surreal.

I am also a newbie here and can share my experience. I was on Tramadol for 3 years and got addicted. I took up to 20 a day at the highest point. I then went to suboxone to stop the tram. I've been on Sub for 2 years and although I feel WAY better on sub than the pain killers, it really was no better. I decided 2 weeks ago to stop the sub and make a quick jump to Kratom. Most will tell you to taper. That's the smart thing to do. I jumped. I literally took my last 16mg on say a Tuesday and then on wednesday morning I started taking Kratom 3x a day. I did restart last week but I am now 7 days out and I have experienced VERY MILD, almost nonexistent withdrawals. No RLS, No fever feeling, No dizziness, one episode of stomach run off but the Kratom fixed that within the next dose. Today I was supposed to go in to refill my Subutex(Suboxone) but I called and cancelled. I don't need it, even 7 days out.

I also have spinal issues. Herniated disks, degeneration, nerve pain etc. I hurt moderately right now but not terrible. Im at work and have been every day. No way I could of done that by going cold turkey off Sub or the tramadol. My mood is good. No depression where as I was also VERY down after quitting opiates. Just the lowest of the low. None of that with Kratom. It's completely controlling my withdrawl symptoms and doing a fantastic job.

I take 3g White or green in the morning, 3-4g at lunch of white or green and 5-6g red at about 4-5pm. I've been sleeping fine and not needing to dose at night at all yet.

If you have any other questions I am a noob to Kratom but I can share what I'm going through and that is similar to what you are about to do. I hope this helps!

Don't be scared. Kratom is more powerful than I realized. It really can stop those nasty Withdrawals!
