Congratulations on giving freedom another shot.

Once you wean down - that’s the HARDEST PART! Weaning down is MUCH WORSE than making the switch. And it’s absolutely necessary to get good help from the kratom.

Very cool that you decided to give it a go! We can’t promise you FOREVER, but we will be here for you.

It’s a big decision because it involves letting your brain heal and true emotions to flow again. You’ll see a wonderful TODAY as opposed to constant fear you’re living with now. That has gotta be painful, too!

Hugs of support!

Keep us posted on your progress!

Wonderful news!

Hey J,
You are ready to try. Order the kratom come back and everyone here will help.
I am not against the prescribed pain meds. I am only pro quality of life. Kratom can be an easy transition if you are lucky but the history of opiates in your background might have a few challenges but since your doctors are not allowing any choice and your are seeking alternatives I am praying for you to be one of the easy transitions.

You might want to get turmeric to take along with kratom I feel they are complementary and help reduce inflammation.

Best

I am seeing a pain management DR. He has recently put me on Butrans Pain patch. I know it's not the same as pills. But, it is Schedule III and easy for them to prescribe. My Dr. also presribes Hydro 7.5 a small amount for 1 month. Basiclly, they are there to avoid going to E.R.
I have also heard people on this Forum using Gabepentin. Wich is a med that helps with pain. hopefully, you can discuss all your options with your DR.

I have found a lot of relief from pain as well as mood boost from using Kratom. It doesn't solve all my pain issues. But, it helps a lot. It also helps to stretch what little pain meds I have last longer.

Kratom can and does help. It is an Amazing Leaf. Continue to try different vendors and different strain/colors. It is a journey and it takes a lot of effort in order to get all the benefits Kratom has to offer.

Good Luck... Welcome to the Forum

jpython:

long term use of oxycodone is harmful...there are many effects including androgen deficiencies (read low testosterone) which are well documented.

Your doctor is wise to suggest you come off it. I know it is diffcult to accept, (many of us have been there) but it is the best thing for you in the long run.

You have already received some good advice from Nan70 so I will not repeat it, but we are here to help you through this and answer any questions that come up as you do your research and start your journey.

If you are going through a taper now, it is wise to get your oxy dose down to at least 40 mg per day before you decide to stop altogether. Many people have successfully come off larger doses than that with Kratom, but that is a suggestion that I can offer.

You will also need a good supply of Kratom before you stop oxy altogether. You DO NOT want to run out as you are making the switch.

Just for reassurance, there are many, many people on this forum who have successfuly come of oxycodone (me included) with little or no experience of bad withdrawal symptoms.

Kratom Does work. I know that is hard to believe but when you experience it you will know.

Senior people suffering is heartbreaking. I worked for a short time in a facility. When the elderly patient showed distress with pain, they mixed Vicodin with applesauce, and that seemed to do the trick. They were good to these elders, They seemed to dose them “as needed”. I was impressed.

I can Imagine that Daily Oxy use will Change your Brain Chemistry & Deplete it of Endorphins & Serotonin that your body makes naturally. Kratom will not do that because it is a Partial Antagonist.
If anybody has any Questions about Kratom please private message me or make a Post & I will be glad to answer as soon as I can usually within 24 hours if not sooner. I'm usually on really late at night Between Midnight & 5am.
