Hello All,
I've only been taking Kratom for about 3 months now, but I'm finding that I seem to be incredibly sensitive to dehydration with Kratom (of course alot of this may have to do with the fact that I live in Tucson, Az, where the weather is ALWAYS dry, dry, dry.) So that doesn't help.
But I find if I take more than about 6-8grams in a day, I go into a really bad dehydration drop. Muscle Weakness, loose stool, I can barely get out of bed. All I want to do is sleep because I'm so exhausted and depleted.
I actually had to go to my local Emergency Room and get hooked up to fluids for a few hours to replenish me a couple of weeks ago.
It was scary.
I'm a person who drinks water constantly throughout the day, and ever since my trip to the E.R. I'm now in the routine of drinking Pedialyte every day to ward off dehydration. It helps, but I was just wondering if anyone else has this kind of sensitivity to Kratom?
I was thinking of taking something to help potentiate the Kratom (Like Tumeric & Black pepper) so I wouldn't have to take more than 6g or so a day, but will potentiating the Kratom just make the dehydration stronger too?

The last time I was here, MadMaxKnightRider was kind enough to post a bunch of helpful info on avoiding dehydration...but even with taking Fish oil supplements, Vit.D, my Pedialyte and drinking lots of water,
I'm still afraid to take more than 6gms of Kratom a day without it throwing me into a Dehydration tailspin where I can barely get out of bed due to fatigue and muscle weakness.
6 grams a day seems to be my "limit".
By the way, when I was in the Emergency room they did a full blood workup on me and the only thing that was "off" was my sodium level was low. Which was to be expected, as I was so dehydrated. Otherwise, all was normal.
So there's no other physical/health issue here that I can see.

Is it possible to just be "too sensitive" to higher doses of Kratom?
What do most people here take a day in terms of grams?
How do you take it?
Is it best to take a larger dose in the morning and then smaller doses later on, like 3grams at noon, and another 3 grams at night...something like that?
I appreciate everyone's help here, thank you ! :cheer:

hey desert girl welcome! I wish I could help you more ive only been taking kratom about 10 weeks and im in Ct so I have yet to experience summer kratom dosing. never mind in Az! of course you live in Az so you have to hydrate. keep on you/ in your car salty snacks like cheddar crackers or something. im a sucker for those electrolyte drinks sometimes but really its better to take any natural juice, add a little salt and about a cup of water and it works just as well without all the sugar, or chemical sweeteners if u buy the diet. and lot cheaper! but yeah max is the man that knows his shirt lol

Thanks Michele,
Well I'm a confirmed popcorn addict, and I always like some Sea Salt on my Air popped popcorn, so that should help. I just worry about the whole "Electrolyte Imbalance" issue with dehydration, that's why I've been drinking the Pedialyte.

I'm actually a native New Yorker, moved to Arizona in 2007, but I don't know if I'll ever get used to the crazy weather out here...we go straight from "winter" around 30 degrees at coldest, then it shoots right back up to 91 degrees, like it is today.

I don't go out alot, so I don't physically exert myself that much...I guess I just have to get used to drinking a boat load of water all the time!
Thanks :)

Hey, welcome! Odd question but you aren't by chance following a really low carb or keto diet? I've never had any dehydration issues with Kratom but several months back I tried keto and ended up becoming really dehydrated. Kinda random but I'm curious if it might be something besides the Kratom. Either way, I hope you get to feeling better soon! :)

Well...when I'm being "good" I stick to raw foods (fresh fruits, veggies/seeds) kind of diet with lots of salads, etc. But I've been depressed this year over some stuff going on in my private life, and when I get depressed I start in on the Comfort foods..yes, processed junk from the supermarket, frozen pizza, etc.
And I can tell my body doesn't like it.
So I'm trying to break out of that cycle. I would think if I can stick to a diet with lots of fresh fruits and veggies that will help with hydration.

I also have had the low sodium issues as well as low potassium once (since starting kratom). I use this electrolyte stuff you squirt into the water bottle of choice.

Unfortunately they flavor it with nonsense to get people to drink it. Mio Sport squirt bottle in the water-flavor adders section. One squirt per bottle of self filled tap/filtered water. It’s about the same as pedialyte only easier to carry around and less expensive.

I’m not sure kratom is the cause of my past dehydration, but it’s dehydrating like how coffee is - being the plants are cousins.

I hope you can figure out what I’m trying to describe.

These little squirt bottles are all JUST FLAVOR or JUST caffeine except this one is electrolytes. One bottle has 18 squirts!

I hope you ALWAYS carry some with you because it’s very dangerous to get dehydrated.

I do not know of a relationship between kratom dose size and dehydration. There’s no clear link between the two in my experience.

I love chia seeds! They don’t move well inside of me. Instead of cleaning up the tubes, they STICK LIKE GLUE and I swell up. Not unlike the effects of toss n wash. Crazy because I love those things. Great recipe for chia beverage!

I appreciate everyone's advice so much, thank you.
I'd have to look into the Mio squirt thing...I know what you're talking about Laurie, I've seen the little silver bottles at the supermarket.
As for making a Lemon/Chia seed mix, I think I read about that online too.
My problem is that my chronic pain condition is in my bladder, and without going into too many details,
basically I can't consume anything that you wouldn't rub on an open wound. When I eat citrus and it hits my bladder I'm in excruciating pain. It's like an ulceration on the inside of my bladder. So lemons are out unfortunately:(

I've been drinking Pedialyte like crazy, which is really not good because I've got high blood pressure (controlled with medication) but when I drink the Pedialyte my Blood pressure SOARS(due to the high sodium content), and I have to take extra medication to bring it back down to normal. It's scary.

I'm starting to think I'm just a person who can't tolerate Kratom. I'm afraid to take anymore at this point because just drinking alot of water doesn't help, and I don't know what else to take to help battle dehydration.

Living in Arizona doesn't help either of course. I was thinking of actually buying a Cool mist humidifier and dragging it around the house with me everywhere I go, lol.
That might help, we'll see.
I don't want to give up on Kratom yet...but I'm going to take a little break from it until I can find something safe to take to help me with dehydration.
Thank you so much again everyone.

Amy
