Hi everyone!
I didn’t know that anyone had posted since Sunday, so I just enjoyed reading a lot of your replies at once! I’m new to “foruming” and so just getting the hang of this too...
Its so very helpful to hear all of your experiences. I think I was thinking myself into symptoms like Littlebear mentioned in her very insightful post.
Thanks again!

I had the same concern, but I got over it.
I have taken Zoloft for years, but with Kratom I have cut my dose in half. I also take thyroid medication. Kratom is medicine to me. When you take a substance daily, you will have some sort of physical dependence. I depended on my Zoloft, and never thought of that as addiction. Still, I could not stop it abruptly without withdrawal symptoms. If I stopped my thyroid meds, I would eventually die.
So, is that addiction?
Kratom eases my back pain and has helped me defeat my depression and anxiety. I don't take it to get high, I take it because without it, I would need a lot of other medication. I have come to terms with understanding it as medication.
Most people who have discussed the withdrawal issue remark that it is no worse than caffeine withdrawal. And probably a lot easier than nicotene withdrawal. The only horror stories about withdrawal have been from people chasing the dragon and taking much higher doses than I will ever take.

Now that many states recognize medical marijuana, I think back to when it was considered a gateway drug to heroin. And considered addiction. But now it is medicine, so suddenly if you need it for pain or anxiety you get a doctor to OK your medical marijuana card.

Things change. And we can think ourselves into having symptoms. Personally, I don't want to be without Kratom and I have found skipping a couple days to be no problem.

Accardi wrote: Hi everyone,
I deeply appreciate this feedback; as the only other person I know who uses Kratom is the guy at the supplement shop where I buy it- who recommended the 3 days on / 3 days off.
I will say that I read some article about traditional use in Thailand where it is taken in combination with coffee and- oh wow, in my experience, it’s just wonderful.
I’ve been a serious yoga practitioner for 25 years and found the effects equivalent of 2 hours of solid yoga practice. So on the days when I can’t practice it brings me to a similar level of lucidity and open hearted good will toward life and humanity that I may not feel otherwise.
But my 3 days were not easy at all. I don’t know how long I had been taking it daily- and I don’t take large amounts- but I couldn’t sleep at night, ( anxious that I was having withdrawal
and thinking that maybe I shouldn’t take Kratom ever again- then dreaming about it when I finally did sleep!!!) the first days I was kinda achy and chilly ( all this is probably my own overactive anxious mind)
The insomnia may have been due to the full moon, and aches and chills maybe from the cold front we’re experiencing here- don’t know if this was Kratom withdrawal because of all these variables. But I get yoga withdrawal too!

Anyhow thanks for all your replies, it’s nice to connect with you- enjoy the storms, Santa Cruz.
Ciao

Thx accardi,

And your very welcome , simply put , do what works for you, and like Laurie and nan wrote ... mindfulness is gold

Nice having you here, look forward to seeing more of you around these parts ,

The storm has lifted , it was impressive, we def don’t get that kind of weather here very often , Nature is so humbling, reminds us of her power and how little we are in comparison (L)

Have a.Great evening

accardi,

glad to have you here! im coming into the topic a little late but I don't think you have anything to worry about. I was a k self- taught until I found this forum. thank god cause you all have helped me grow so much in so many ways. there is a lot of scary propaganda out there over k. believe what is best for you for you. everyone else can piss off. even me! :P

for my experience, I don't take the leaf on days off ( most of the time ) and usually don't dose at night. I need it to keep working and help with pain to keep me working. that being said my 'sweet spot' for most doses was 3-4 grams every 6 hrs or so, now its 4- 5 grams. the only times I dose more than 2 times a day is when my work shift s over 12 hrs or if my week is over 60 hrs. whichever comes first lol. I also use shilajit and chuchu daily. rotate a combo of akuamma, IS, skullcap or corydalis especially on non k days. im also dabbling in other natural mood enhancers for tough days or non k days when I need a little more pep or upliftment.

im rambling. your body will tell you what works for you. we are here for guidance! >:D

That’s one more nice thing about this forum. We don’t judge others on dose sizes - everyone is different. We simply share what works/doesn’t work for us and hope that might be of help to someone else.

We all wear our own shoes and this forum is a wonderful place to gather and support one another with the hugest range of needs and challenges.

The energy here is very healthy and warm and you can be sure the posts have unspoken, invisible HUGS included at no extra charge!

Happy Sunday, y’all! I’m very grateful to have this resource to continue to learn from <hugs>

Since people are effected differently from the amount and usage of kratom I cant say that there should be a "normal or recommended dosage" that fits everyone.

I also do not see anything work with taking everyday. Now if you have an issue with your tolerance building up there are solutions for that.

I am for the use of proven vendors and the use of regular kratom powder.

Also use as much as you need for whatever healthy and positive reason you take kratom.

Now if you have a history of substance abuse you have to be honest with yourself..,and better yet maybe your sponsor or an honest friend.., as to how much you take and why? If it is to try and get some sort of buzz that can be an issue you need to look at.
I would also say the same for someone without a substance abuse history if they are now taking high dosages to try and get a buzz.

But if you are taking legit powder kratom for the right reasons then you should not feel pressured to take a lower dosage then you may need or not taking everyday.

And stay away from headshop/gas station kratom shots and adulterated kratom. This may lead you down the work path and is also what makes kratom look like spice or bathsalts to the government and everyone that wants to ban kratom.

From being a member of this forum and we all use for many different reasons Kratom doesn't have one best way to take. From dosing to which strain will work best for what. To taking breaks to taking daily. Laurie mentioned being mindful this seems like the best advice.

There are many substance we take everyday and take for granted. Two of us here have tea addictions. Meaning we have trouble stopping and we obsess about having it or not having it. For me its green tea. I always have it in my purse and I pack a box in my suitcase when I travel. I can easily not take Kratom but tea is physically and emotionally hard for me. Since I use it in my anti inflammatory diet I have no reason to stop green tea. Bad outcomes have been too much or too strong a brew has brought on severe nausea, not sure if there is a case for tea being bad for the kidneys. I used to drink a ton but have since lowered it to a normal range,

I feel the bad stigma attached to Kratom have let some feeling guilt or question use. I do understand some with dependency and addiction issues might have struggles with daily use(or not). I use Kratom 2 time a day except on weekends, I will only take a night dose. Kratom helps me with function so I can work I have to manage spinal arthritis. I dose low and I also do yoga, PT, and have herbs I take daily. When I get to Saturday I have no issues about wanting it that morning I have no desire to take Kratom. Any effects going longer without Kratom would be my normal crappy pain I am always plagued with it, I notice a runny nose and I know this is a withdrawal symptoms that is all I ever feel. Kratom helps reduce anxiety which was a plus side effect for me I feel people who have daily anxiety issues might have issues when not taking it. Anxiety is a tough little monster.
