Good afternoon!
I would like to first say that I am in love with this forum! Everyone appears to be very nice and knowledgable! I have been reading and putting together information since I came across this website.
I have decided to try out In Sense...I'm going to get their sample pack. It states that you can only receive 3 a year. Does anyone know if you can purchase all 3 at the same time? I would like to start off with a variety of small amounts so I can decide which is best for me.
What is everyone's favorites from there?
Do you reccomend any other places for a sample pack?
Thank you in advance!

Hello Heather and welcome to our family!!

InSense is a great one to start with , I believe you can get all three samolenorders the first go around ... as far as favorites go, it’s variable from person to person and also depends on what reasons your wanting to utilize Kratom.
I am a green guy most of the time , it helps tremendously with chronic pain and the depression and anxiety that came with it . Gives me energy, pain relief , anxiety relief and great moodlift ... Green Malay, green Vietnam, green Thai and Green maeng da are my go to greens...

Some white that give energy and also gives pain relief is white Maeng Da , white Borneo

Reds that give me the results I’m looking for are not easy to lock down for my chemistry, red Borneo , red Thai and red MD are the ones that give energy amdnoain relief more consistently than others ..

Also the results can change form batch to batch , vendor to vendor, day to day ..

Best advice is to take the smallest amount that give you benefits, less is morebwith Kratom, stay hydrated, and keep your diet directed towards bowel health, many experience some slowing down in that area in the beginning of a Kratom regimen.... eating salads and fruit while staying hydrated really helps ...

Others will welcome you soon with other tips/ advice to give ...

So nice to have you here, hope to see more of you and share in on the learning of this beautiful herbal tool that is Kratom!!! (L) B-)

Take care

Do you reccomend getting all 3 types at once or should I try a few different vendors?

Welcome to the family, Heather :-h

In Sense is a great place to start. I started with their sample packs about 4 months ago. I have since purchased over a kilo of various types from them. They are my #1 choice because they were my first. :woohoo: But many others are as good.:-bd

I mainly take kratom for a chronic headache problem that started about 2.5 years ago. The kratom has been the only thing that has come close to taking them away 100% of the time.
I also get good pain relief from spine, leg, and hand pains caused by various issues. :(

For me greens are the best, then some whites and golds.

Green Riau from In Sense is my absolute favorite for getting rid of the headaches. It also has the added benefit for me of clarity and energy.
Their Gold MD, and White ketapang also work but not as good as the Riau.

Others I have tried that have worked are:
White MD from Garuda- Hudson Valley Botanicals
Ultra White Maeng Da from Laughing Lion

I also had decent results from PA Botanicals White Kapuas and their Yellow version.

I would try more samples from In Sense but I already used up the allotted 3 for the year.
It's better that I have no more samples because it would probably only mean that I would find something else that I want more of.
And after winning a split kilo in a recent contest by Garuda HVB I have enough to last me for over a year at my 2 to 3 gram daily dose. :)

My suggestion would be to try different samples from several of the approved vendors. :-bd
If you haven't done so already you should do a search on reviews by madmaxnightrider. He has done very many that are excellent.

I have chronic headaches as well! It is unbearable at times. A friend of mine recommended I try kratom. I tried a pack at a kratom store here and it made me sick to my stomach. I only took a teaspoon of it. I tried less and it helped however when it wore off it felt as my headache was worse. I spoke with several people and they said there are many different kinds. So I began researching it and came across this forum. I'm extremely happy with all of the knowledge and feedback. Other places I have found....I'll be nice and just say I was not impressed!
I'm still debating on In Sense and Natures Cure. I'm undecided if I want to get all the sample packs or just go big and split a kilo. I believe I read somewhere that they do that.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you so much for responding!

PS my main focus is to treat my chronic headaches.
Secondly would be as needed for pain relief and third as needed for anxiety.

Hi Heather welcome to the forum!
Kratom reacts to your body chemistry, so many variables, but that does not mean the success rate is not there. So yes it is hard for me to recommend my favorite strains from vendors and expect everyone to have identical outcomes. But sometimes a group of us will like a particular strain and we all give good reviews and then one party pooper comes along and hates it. This is kratom.
Hopefully the headache suffers will come along and offer you strain selection advice.

Whites which typically offer energy and focus. Sometimes aggravate headaches and anxiety. I find I cannot get enough pain relief duration so I rarely take them. If your an "opposite" you might find white strains will work for you. Confusion with strain selection is normal. Sometimes you will luck out and find the right dose and right strains from the start but mostly kratom has some work and a learning curve but the results are well worth it.

I will list my vendors and favorite strains just to give you an idea of maybe how to order samples. This is just a quick list I have a lot I like to rotate. Also I am managing chronic pain, spinal arthritis and anxiety which I am just realizing and admitting to myself how much a problem that was in my life.

Day or my work strains all I find lift mood, anxiety and pain management- These are greens(occasionally I throw in a white borneo)
Insense- Green Hulu. Green Thai
Pa botanicals- Emerald, Cambodian, Borneo
Laughing Lion-Infinity Green

Night pain releif-
Insesne-Red Hulu(could be a day strain also) Red Sumatra, Chocolate Borneo- very relaxing strain
Releaf- Red Smile(now a phenotype)
Laughing Lion- Red malay
Inland Botanicals - any Red really
Yellow Borneo- Pa Botanicals- great mood leveling day or night with this one

Rob at Goldleaf/Insense is a good vendor to start he posts here and might chime in.

Ask any question you need and best to you.

I also recommend InSense/Gold leaf. My only caution on getting a bunch of samples is that you may end up with a ton of little bags. Like I have. I haven't actually tried most of my samples. I hit on a good one and that has been my go to.

I believe PA Botanicals also sells a sample pack. I don't have a headache issue. I have a lower back/spine issue along with depression and anxiety. I love the GoldenLeaf Dark Red Meng da.

I am wondering if you have ever had a medical diagnose for the headaches. I used to get migraines that would be triggered hormonally or if there was a sudden weather change, fortunately that has gone away. But when I had them I found that a stimulating substance like caffeine could help. I often had to sleep off a headache, so taking caffeine was a real issue if it didn't work. Then I would be wired and in pain.

My point is that your headache could indicate a need for either calming or stimulating. That would help you decide on which Kratom strains to work with.

Another point: with migraine, stomach upset is common. So your nausea may not have been Kratom related. Just a thought.

Heather,
I've never purchased from any local vendor. Only from the approved vendors on this forum. The Vendors link at the top of the page will get you to them if you haven't done that already.

I have not heard many good reports from others in this forum about getting good kratom from local vendors or head shops so what you have already tried may not be a good representation of what you could get online.

A level bakers type teaspoon is about 2.4 grams depending on how fine the powder is. A heaping teaspoon I'm guessing is likely about 4 grams.

For me a dose is about 1 to 1.5 grams depending on which type I take. For the the green riau I take it is 1.2g per dose and is usually good for 4-6 hours. Sometimes the headaches don't creep back and that is all I will take for the day. Unless the body pains are bad, then I will take more kratom and maybe also some other botanicals that I have learned about on this forum which are also good for pain.

The only time the leaf (kratom) has made me queasy is when I took to much. Which was about 5 grams for me.
I've also noticed the "wobbles" when I take to much of some whites or green MD. The wobbles for me are when my eyes can't seem to focus on something but it feels like my eyes are constantly wiggling side to side. I think that is what the wobbles are in general but the more experienced here will know more about that than I.

With whites I have read that many people feel jittery and anxious. I have noticed that also with some of the whites I have tried. If I try a white I always do about 500mg (~1/4teaspoon) first to make sure I don't get that jitteriness.

I have also found that many of the reds I have tried will give me a headache that is similar to a hangover from alcohol. This has occurred for me even at just 1g of many of the reds.
If I take a red now it is just 500mg to 1g to help me sleep. Red borneo is one that I can do this with and not get a headache.

My wife gets migraines but unfortunately the kratom doesn't work for her. :( She always has to take zomig.

In my opinion you should hold off on buying a kilo until you have tried some samples. Not all kratom has the same effect on each person in the same way. So even though green riau may work great for me it may not work at all for you. So buying a sample first would be better than being stuck with a 1/2 or full kilo of something that you won't use. :(

Getting samples from NC and/or In Sense would be a great start.
My first sample pack was Green MD, Gold MD, and Red MD. The green and the gold were keepers for me. I think I still have some of the Red in my "no fly" pile.

My next sample pack was Red Borneo, White Ketapang, and Red Thai. The borneo and the ketapang were good for me but not the thai.
