I am a wife to a very tolerant and loving husband and a mom of an adult daughter with special needs. I have been dealing with chronic depression with not a lot of relief from pharma drugs for many years. Also chronic back pain. I am soooo hoping that Kratom will be what helps me in regaining my quality of life. I look forward to learning all the knowledge that I'm sure is present here.:)

hey seashell!!

glad you found us and you came to the right spot. im not saying its a cure all and it replaces all other drugs. and im no medical professional. but it has helped ME. and many of us. I have osteoarthritis. and bad PF in my feet. I work as a chef typically 50-60 hrs a week. no way I could do this without kratom. helps me with mood, energy, social interaction, and above all pain.

a lot of us take natural herbs above traditional OTC products. like akuamma. works well for pain alone or with kratom.

have you tried it yet? and if so from who if you don't mind me asking. and how. we have a huge list of approved vendors. in sense/ gold leaf is a OG favorite. 3 oz for 17 bucks shipping included, 3 times a year. their akuamma and other herbals very great quality/ price.

I know our situations might not change. but how we handle them can. the fact that you have a loving support system with a great family is a plus. don't give up if the first thing you try doesn't work. its no way as simple as taking a pill. sometimes you just need to try a different type or vendor, or change your dose a bit.

please let us know if you need guidance.

seashell you got this!

More is usually not better with Kratom. Find your effective serving size and resist the occasional temptation to bump it up. It's not magic, and using it as a blunt force against every symptom of what ails you will eventually cause you to have to readjust your servings of Kratom, and that can be a bit uncomfortable.

But DO take what you require to feel better. Just start low, with too little even, and work your way up over a period of days.

The bag may say the serving size is two grams as that's a common amount. But many people are happier with less. Start with as little as 500 milligrams, or even 250 mg. to make sure it doesn't irritate you, and slowly increase from there only if you need to.

500 milligram provides at least a bit of relief for all but those in all too real chronic pain, or emotional debilitation. 500 milligrams should be an eye-opener as to what Kratom can do. Once you find the amount that works, and that could be a gram or more, you become likely to bump into diminishing returns as your serving size increases.

That's where that two gram serving size suggestion comes in. That's the amount that genuinely works for the majority of people, all the time. Some will need double, some will need half, and those with broken bodies and/or hard put upon spirits could need quite a bit more.

You'll soon find out; my advice is to just start slow. The good news for most people is that it very much does work. :)

Hello welcome to the forum.
How far are you in your Kratom research?
Here's a quick guide.
www.ilovekratom.com/forum/rate-a-vendor/...start=0#.XjteXmhKiUk

Kratom is subjective to our own body chemistry so you will have to let go of the one size fits all pharma prescribing you might be used to, kratom does not satisfy people not willing to let go of that model.
It can have a learning curve or work right away. We are all here to share our experiences and help your success.

Learning your starting dose can be effected by you past prescription medicines. For people switching off pain meds their doses are usually higher to feel any benefits form kratom. For me I take 1.7 grams(i have pocket scale to weigh my does) for the day of a Green strain. At night I take 2.4 grams of a Red strain.

I take kratom to manage spinal arthritis and to help the anxiety and mental stress that goes with pain management. I used to use cortisone injections and NSAIDs, little history of pain meds because they never helped me with daily function. Kratom helps me function at work, home, and to relax.

If you decide to try kratom learn about the ways to take kratom powder. ex.- Tea, toss and wash, capsules
Briefly learn the Strains RED, GREEN, WHITE, do not worry about the many names too much.
Make sure you are not living in a banned state.
Visit the AKA web site.
Find a reputable online vendor. We do not recommend buying from smoke shops

Welcome here Seashel! I also think you've come to the best place.

I also new to kratom, 3 months in, and it helps me a great deal with chronic pain and depression. This leaf and the community around it i am so grateful for. I was able to quickly find answers to my questions from people dealing with issues i can relate to. I belive now that sustainable pain management with kratom is absolutely possible since i get to know many people here that are doing it.

I wish you an awesome journey :)

Seashel!!!

So nice to have you be a part of the crew !>:D
Kratom has helped me better than I could ever have hoped for! Like Nan.... arthritic spine . And personally speaking , the chronic pain, anxiety and depression that came with it ! My favorites ( amongst many) are green Malay , green md , green Hulu ... but what works best for me could be different for another !
We all have great suggestions and they are all good ones (L) I completely empathize with what you are going through ... your in great company B-)

You’ve already been given great advice and warmly welcomed from some total sweethearts... they are the best !

We have our challenges with the ailments we endure ... and the support from this community is the best one could ask for ... good medicine in and of itself!

Anything you need , we are here to help in any way we can (L)

Brandon

I just started using the white maeng da this morning at 2 grams. I know it's a potent strain. But it really sounded like what I was looking for. I am feeling better already. More energy, which I've been seriously lacking, but not the jittery feeling. A sense of wellbeing which has also been very low for some time. I have also ordered some super green maylay for energy boost, pain relief and calmness. Haven't received that yet. I think I understand that switching strains from one to another and back may help in reducing tolerance levels?? Like I said I'm on a new journey and am looking for some relief from just living a tolerable life with pain and depression. I am reading and learning so much and really appreciate everyone's input. Thank you again.:-bd
