Im very curious to know where you read high levels of nickel in kratom, if you have a source for that please share!

Are you in canada? The two canadian vendors i buy from are testing for heavy metals and alkaloid content, they are canada kratom store and canada kratom express. I bought from the states once but the customs and shipping makes it more expensive than buying from canadian vendors. Anyway i tried benni botanicals and was very pleased. When the exchange rate will allow it i will buy again from the US and i wanna try insense/gold leaf, fused flora and natures cure.

Welcome to your new family Laurie!

Check out the approved vendors page.
I have complete confidence in anyone recommended on this list. My personal favorite is gold leaf/incense botanicals. I also enjoy Otis. I will be ordering from them today.

Oh yeah, also in ohio

Although I'm new to this forum, I'm not new to kratom. I'd been buying from a Canadian company that unfortunately went out of business. Right now though I'm hearing that most kratom from all companies are being detected as having high and dangerous levels of nickel and lead for frequent users like me. If I was a casual user, it wouldn't be as scary.
Are there any vendors that you deal with have their products tested for lead and nickel? If so, please direct me to those specific companies that can guarantee their kratom to be lead and nickel free.
Thanks!

A lot of vendors here test their products, however, nickel is not one of those things that is usually tested for. Lead testing is very common. You could find a vendor that does test for nickel, but even the GMP tests I've seen don't include it. Just like most things we consume, there are risks even with "tested" batches. Kratom is much like coffee, oolong, chamomile, and other teas, it's best to filter it before consuming.

After thousands of years of dealing with the risks and learning, you'd think that folks would know the best way to avoid them. I would argue they do, but the US hasn't caught on yet. In my travels to SE Asia, I never once saw kratom powder for sale off the farms where it was made. However, I could throw a rock and hit 2-3 tea shops that served it. They've learned over the years that by brewing a tea with kratom, they avoid a lot of the risks associated with it, just like coffees or teas. If you're really concerned about this, I would perhaps research the benefits of tea rather than focusing on finding a vendor that specifically tests for it. A lot of folks toss and wash, but I've found much more success with tea.

To demonstrate, here are links to 3x GMP vendors, none test for nickel, at least it's not labeled on their pages or in their tests. To be fair, I'm working on my own GMP certification, and do not test for nickel as well.

You are very welcome Laurie ,

I think for folks who are concerned about this , picking vendors with lab results indicating the pathogen and metal levels would help in picking the source that’s best for your needs . Many vendors test , not all of them do , the vendors at ILK bring us the safest kratom they can procure.....
.....Wonderful folks doing the good work !

....please check back when you find a company that your happy with , we all can benefit from each others journey !

Cheers

Hi Brandon,
Thanks for the welcome and I'm glad to be here. Thanks also for all the information you gave, especially the link for foods to eat for chelation.
I think its a great idea, even if the levels are trace amounts.

Hello Laurie W.

Welcome to ILK ,

Glad you found us and a very good question ,

I can’t say with 100% certainty of kratom that does not contain some trace levels of various heavy metals , lab reports will indicate the percentage found within tested batches . Hope Shaun from Fused Flora or another very knowledgeable vendor/ member can give better information to you.

Like most food items, there’s trace minerals / metals found in acceptable amounts , rice contains low levels of arsenic for example .

There are foods you can eat that have compounds bind to heavy metal and allow you to pass them through excretion by a process called chelation. Cilantro and other herbs/ foods that can do this are lemons , spiraling , some seaweeds/ sea vegetables. Here’s a link to some info on heavy metal detoxing foods :

www.healthline.com/health/heavy-metal-detox

From my understanding, kratom grows in very wet soil, even grows submerged in water where it can easily pull up various amounts of metal/ minerals . Testing for analysis is a crucial to know the levels within any given product you consume .

Hope some folks can offer more help than I can !

Great to have you here and I appreciate your question and concerns.

Brandon

Edit: I’m a everyday utilizer of kratom also , so I’m very curious about this as well. I think the main factor would be where the locations of trees are growing that would make the diff between acceptable amounts and amounts that you wouldn’t want to consume past a certain grams per day intake.
