I'm new to using Kratom (only been using it about a week or less, and taking a break from it today). So far I like it! I have ADD and used to take Ritalin for it but I don't anymore. I've found that kratom helps with some of my ADD symptoms, along with helping anxiety, and puts me in a generally better mood. I'm a little worried about getting addicted to it, so plan to take a day or 2 off weekly. I never got addicted to Ritalin though, but this might not compare in that way anyway. So far I've been using kratom only once (sometimes twice) a day, and dosage is about 2 to 5 grams depending on the strain.
I guess one of my biggest concerns about it is I've read that people can start developing dark patches on their skin, especially on their cheeks after long term use. Has anyone here ever experienced that? How long would you have to use kratom to start developing dark patches? Does anyone know?
Thanks for any help! :)

Welcome to the best kratom forum ever, Halo in Reverse!

Your particular concern should be alleviated after I tell you that rumor is an old myth about Indonesian people who chew the leaves daily. And. It’s simply an old myth that has never been seen to be true.

Nobody is getting skin color changes due to kratom.

Certainly not someone who only uses part time!

Colloidal Silver ingestion in high quantities WILL turn you a bit blue. Seen it myself. Go easy on the colloidal silver. Nobody benefits from the quantities that blue guy was using.

Hope this helps ease your concerns.

Thanks so much for the reply! That does ease my concerns a lot. :)
And I'm not planning on ingesting any colloidal silver anytime soon.. So I guess I'm good! ;)

Hang around a bit. Since you’re new, you’ll want to read posts about managing bowels and we also have a lot of member testimonials on vendors and product that might assist you down the road.

Very cool about not needing your Ritalin! I’m definitely glad I’m ingesting a plant product over most pharmaceuticals (I’m not fully free of them all - yet).

Lots to read here! Use the SEARCH button like you would on google. Lots of cool stuff, mostly current.

Do you have a source for this information about getting dark spots on the skin? or is it just something somebody told you?

I just read it a couple places on the internet. I don't remember specifically where though. I always take what I read or hear with a grain of salt though. :) I also read one guy saying his hair has started falling out more since using kratom (but hopefully that doesn't have anything to do with the kratom lol).

You really do have to take everything you read with a grain of salt. There's a load of horrible misinformation online about kratom and also plenty of hypochondriacs out there that love to draw attention to themselves.

The only side effect I've experienced is, if I go too long in the morning without a dose, I get aggravated/grumpy and also hot and sweaty. Let's be honest, here. That's about the same as going without your coffee, ya know?

The only other side effect I've experienced is an uptick in quality of life.

If kratom is such a dangerous opiate, how is it that we all function normally in our lives while taking it?

Sorry. I'm just so disgusted by the lies.....

There HAS BEEN claims of hair loss associated with kratom. However, that has not been directly tied to kratom. That myth is not as invalid as the skin color myth. I’ve read 3 claims of hair loss over the years and never heard back as to whether it was a deficiency of nutrients, kratom or progeria. Can’t discount that myth as BS yet, but MY HAIR is much healthier and longer than ever. At 54!

OK that makes sense. :) The man who said it, said that it seemed he was losing his hair faster (I believe it was on Reddit), but he did say he started losing his hair before taking kratom, but he thought the hair loss seemed faster after starting it. It was probably just a coincidence.
What I like most about kratom is it gives me a little mood boost without being, or feeling, "high". I also love how there's no crash when its wearing off. When I was on Ritalin I always felt a little bit of a crash when it was wearing off. Its just one of those things that we all have to take responsibly, just like any prescription or OTC medicine, or herbs, nootropics, or vitamins. :)
