i solely use reds for sleep which works greatly, but what does a daytime dosage of red feel like? Are you more tired than you normally would be (since i associate reds with sleep).

I do every day. But I’m sometimes “opposite” with the leaf.

The other day I tried 4 tsp for a night of sleep I REALLY NEEDED. Instead, I was up doing everything I’d been meaning to do besides running the vacuum!

Unfortunately, I needed the sleep so badly, I was prone to mistakes. So I got a lot of reading and YouTubing done!

I still have other herbs for rest, so I can’t take any leaf after about 5PM if I wanna sleep that night.

I’m sure BoMalley will tell you her reds are fine for daytime, too.

What dose do you find super relaxing?

I’m still using a “box o’ Reds” I bought from a third party who decided kratom was not for her. That was not this past September but the one BEFORE. 6 250 g bags of various strains from SoCal, whom I’ve never dealt with. It’s been the best deal I ever got because I still use the same bags now and they still help with my varying pain issues.

Red Sumatra, Red Sunda, Red Borneo, Red Bali #1, Red Bali #2, and Chocolate Bentuangie (not Borneo)

None help me sleep. I’m an odd duck

Greens are about the same - only with subtle mood lift.

Whites are too much stimulation. Except one which is also 2 yr old powder. It’s STILL great for mornings. Not much pain relief. But some.

Yellows also often stimulate me!

I just tried Inland Botanicals yellow brick road and it was a nice blend. Got me off my butt and I got a lot of stuff done today while having an upper respiratory infection!

I never try new stuff at night! They all keep me from getting proper rest. Fortunately, I’m not in pain to the point of needing it at night. The other night I was. I stayed up all night but wasn’t in as much pain. :-)

SOME chocolate bents are good for night - one in particular that helped me rest AND relieve pain was from In Sense!

I do not find that reds keep me sedated during the day if I am active and up and about. IF however, I am using ONLY reds during the day and I am sitting about watching TV (usually because pain levels are higher) then I might engage in some nonconsensual napping! I NEVER nod off when using Kratom when driving - unlike the oxy. I had to stop driving in the afternoon when I was on the oxy because I got a little dopey.

I will sometimes combine a white with a red for daytime use usually 2 parts red to one part white and that is a good way to avoid getting too sedated.

I don't take any Kratom at night or for sleep, personally. I find it stimulates me too much - even Reds.

However, I think my sleeping has improved since I started taking Kratom multiple times a day, every day.

But I don't have chronic pain, either......

I find myself napping as well after i dose with just about any color if i'm sitting or laying down. Maybe not as much with whites.

Dosing reds at night has cured my insomnia and helped me get a regular sleep schedule. I need to take a tolerance break though because i just found myself thinking of going for extracts. I'll T-break instead and take the bare minimum for a couple weeks.

will be very interested to hear your progress on the tolerance break.

Hey!

So I decreased my 3 dose per day of 2 tablespoons.
No, I do 3 doses per day of 1 tablespoon. One white, one green, and one red.

However, I bumped my red back up to 2 tablespoons at night because I would wake up with too much pain.
So now I do 1 tablespoon of white or green in the morning, 1 tablespoon of white or green in the afternoon, and two tablespoons of red at night. I might try to lower my reds more incrementally. However, I was able to drop off the whites and greens and reduce it by 1/2 immediately without any I'll effects. I actually even am getting better results from them not long after I reduced. Within a couple of days.

Before my kratom usage began, I had a short stint with pharmaceutical opioids and I would also have a paradoxical reaction just like Laurie.

There is definitely a distinction between the energy of differing 'speeds'. What would be considered a 'fast' feels more similar to an adrenergic stimulation, whilst my 'slow' strains have an emphasis on the pain-killing side, but also give me energy to get things done because I feel so damn good.

I find that blending a slow and fast is optimal for me, however, for those who take doses right before bed, be careful. It may be affecting your sleep more than you think. Even the slowest of strains share the stimulating properties and the fastest also activate the opioid receptor to an extent, even if you can't comparatively feel it. Opioids and adrenergic stimulants are both known to affect sleep-quality.
