I found a YouTube video of a guy who titled his video: Kratom vs. the Common Cold and the first thing he said was "I finally found something that Kratom can not help - a cold."

And right now i can concur.

I do not catch anything very often. I didn't before I started taking kratom.....and this is the first time since i started taking it - 1 year ago.

Unfortunately, the only thing it does is help lift the mood, give you some temporary energy, maybe help a bit with the headaches or sinus pressure........but it certainly doesn't do anything wondrous. I'm not complaining....well.....maybe a little. :P

I think I'm going to have to go out and get some Mucinex to help me feel better. It will be fun to see how Kratom interacts with THAT stuff......since it's USED IN MAKING METH.

I just got done with 2.5 plus WEEKS with that crud. The Mucinex helps but it was nasty. Fever and even laryngitis. You’ll love this. I had a small bag of a mystery blend. So I tried a sample. Then I quickly fell asleep! Same results for 3 days. I was STOKED because I never can get sedative benefits from this leaf, right? So I labeled the mystery bag, “SLEEPY TIME” and dated when I got it (it arrived just as the cold did).

Show Nuff. The mystery stuff is GREAT, but it doesn’t have any sedative effects anymore. LOL

My cold was a virus AND bacterial. It has been going around since mid November. You’ll be wise to see your dr after the Mucinex gets the green stuff moving.
Feel better, soon, Philly!

Most of you probably won't get this, but I'm going to share anyway because you guys are the only person I can talk to about this kind of thing.

It's funny how, when I first got my cold, I was complaining that Kratom doesn't help. But the truth is, the further you get in to fighting a cold, the more you realize that Kratom IS helping. It's just that the relativity of what it's doing is different since your body is OFF.

For example, last night I slept pretty dang good. Got up several times in the middle of the night and was pleased with how I was feeling and breathing. Then when I woke up for good I was crushed to realize how crappy i was feeling. I don't take my Kratom first thing in the AM because doc suggested i take my Thyroid med first and wait about an hour. Anyway....that first hour was a REAL struggle today because I felt crappy. Nose was running, breathing was not good, head hurt.......

But once I took my Kratom - boom. Much better!

The problem is, the cold and my morning withdrawal symptoms are getting intertwined. :)

I find Kratom helps with a cough. This time of year my sinuses act up causing it to drip down my throat and I get periodic coughing attacks. Now that I take kratom it has been very helpful.

Philly nailed it. Kratom is an ideal symptom treatment. It doesn’t CURE anything, including the common cold.

I also noticed how subtly helpful it is for my discomfort when I’m sick with a fever and ruddy doze. It’s not obvious at all. When I nap for extended periods of time, kratom wears off and THEN YOU CAN TELL IT DID HELP.

Hope you feel better soon, Philly!

Feel better Philly, sorry to hear you're sick.

IME, I don't seem to ever get sick while consistently taking Kratom.. I chalked it up to the antioxidant and antibacterial properties. I do notice, however, I am very prone to catching a cold or flu when I decide to take a break from taking the leaf for tolerance purposes.

It could be that I am sick more often than I think, but the leaf covers symptoms well for me.. I don't think that's true but you never know, right?

I don't take my Kratom first thing in the AM because doc suggested i take my Thyroid med first and wait about an hour.

REALLY?...I know you are supposed to take thyroid hormone outside of food BUT Kratom? I often take my thyroid hormone with my morning Kratom swig. I do not drink coffee so Kratom is my choice for my morning pick-me-up-and-stop-the-pain beverage.

I have to take my thyroid meds in divided doses because in a single dose, it is too much for me... so it becomes difficult to schedule in Kratom, food, and Thyroid meds several times a day if they cannot be taken together. (I know...it is such a challenging life!)

Do you know WHY your doc suggested this?

BTW folks on the topic of upper respiratory infections (hope your feeling better now Philly), I have not had a single one since I started green juicing EVERY DAY (2013). Previous to that I spent 3 Christmases in a row sick for the entire month of December because of upper respiratory infections.

Whatever nutrients are in the green leafy veggies was certainly welcome in my immune system...better than any vaccine! I have a sense that it is probably like Kratom ie single supplements do not do the job as well as the whole food.

I think since I started juicing there has been about a total of 5 days that I have missed taking my juice.
My skin and mucous membranes (gums) love it too!

I'm glad I'm not the only one with this experience. I can't remember the last time I was ill and that's fantastic :-P

He said it because he doesn't know anything about Kratom and his only concern as my GP was to make sure the thyroid med wasn't being affected by anything. That's why. I probably COULD take it together.....I just don't because he asked me not to. An hour is probably MORE than enough time.

I think I posted it on here somewhere a few month ago but when I told him about my success with Kratom I could tell he didn't really know much about it. His answer to me was "Well, that's fine. Western Medicine has been around much longer than anything else so if it's working....great. Just separate it from your thyroid med, like an hour."

I THINK I'm feeling better but it's still hard to say. Thank you for the good wishes!
