Welcome to the best kratom forum ever, Judy C!

We ask here. We read the BLOG section of the website, do google searches, etc.

There are surprisingly few medication interactions that we know of. For example, using grapefruit juice with it makes it a bit stronger and active more quickly (porentiator). Unlike grapefruit juice with many pharmaceutical medications.

If you’re comfortable asking, we have 3 retired nurses here! Antidepressants are fine, albeit possibly less necessary. Google your med and kratom in the search bar. People have tried it and will let you know. It’s fascinatingly safe. There is much to learn about the healing properties as well as the comfort ones. There’s also a SEARCH button within this website for similar discussions for you to review. It’s not FDA approved, so science is slow. They don’t work for the people. They only work for money.

Hope you find answers and feel free to run anything by us here. No topic is missed. There are colon issues you need to read up on. Stuff like that is available here, other forums and some YouTube’s carry such info.

Since Kratom alkaloids bind at the opiate receptor sites in the body, I cannot see how they could interact with any medication unless those medications also use the opiate receptors. This is why we always suggest NOT combining Kratom use with opiates.

As we learn more about Kratom and how it affects body serotonin levels, there MAY be some potential for interaction with drugs that raise serotonin levels, however, many people report that they take Kratom quite safely with their SSRI medication.

Sadly there has been a lot of bad press for Kratom so people have a lot of fear when actually it is probably 100 times safer than any medication you are currently taking.

Grapefruit juice interferes with the body's chemical pathways for eliminating chemicals, so pharmacists recommend that it not be used when taking medications. It could result in absorbing a higher dose of medication than what the doc ordered.

It works the same way with Kratom meaning that you will likely absorb MORE of the alkaloids if you take it with grapefruit juice.

Personally I have not found this to be the case and I have had no noticeable difference in the effects of kratom when taken with any of the substances that are called "potentiators".
