I'm new to Kratom and have just ordered my first Red and White Vein strain,
I am looking primarily for analgesic/pain relief effects, but was not sure if red is always the best or if all strains provide some type of pain killing benefits.
Thank you for any suggestions

All Kratom strains carry in their leaves & Stems different combinations of Alkaloids.
Not every strain will have the alkaloids that help with pain relief. For example most white strains have alkaloids that do not help with pain but alone or in combination with other strains can make you have a sense of well being.

Reds, Greens, Golds, and Yellow’s have more alkaloids that help with pain.

Everyone reacts differently. But, in my personal experience Reds, Greens and yellows really help with pain.
Most people agree that Reds are the best pain relievers.
You will need to experiment with what helps you the most.
I like to mix strains so I get more Alkaloids and it seems to cover pain, sense of well-being, positive calm energy.
My advice is to order different strains from different vendors and spread your money out over a collection of Kratoms Don’t buy a lot of one strain unless you really feel good about it.

Good Luck...

Thank you Jazzfan1,

Good advice, I have read that the Red Maeng Da is usually the most potent for pain (but is also the most sedating) so like you said, it will probably be a matter of trial and error and experimenting with different strains/colors to perhaps make a "fusion" of strains that will help with the pain, but also keep mood elevated, and energy up.
I appreciate your help, thank you!

As far as buying different strains to see what works best for you THIS IS VERY TRUE. Of course it seems daunting and expensive but it does not have to be. Many reputable companies sell Sample or Variety kits which include say 4-6 of their most popular strains or some even let you pick say.. 5 - 1oz bags of any strain they offer. Laughing Lion Herbs does this, KATSBotanicals, Pharmacy Drop Out and many others. This is how I learned about the effects of each strain on me and what I liked after I bought my RED BALI in bulk to start with.(I'm leaving Opiates too and I have chronic pain).

Go to the Approved Vendor section in the Index and go to some sites and check them out. You can get some really affordable sample packs without having to buy 4oz bags of each kind without knowing if it's what you need or not yet.

Jazz is correct about mixing strains. I mix strains in the morning and mid day now, typically in the evening I just take Red Bali or MD.

For me White Borneo was energizing and gave me a good mood lift. I take it in the morning. I just ordered White MD and am looking forward to getting it. I think I'll like it even more.

I have used some Green Bali and Green MD during mid day. Never gave me any bad effects but some ppl say its too gittery.

Those get me through work and to home. That's where my beloved Red Bali or even Laughing Lions "Fuzzy Blanket" comes in...

These are my evening go-to strains and with a good 6gram dose my hurting back fades away. The tension in my shoulders settles and I can relax. This is huge considering I have L4-L5 Herniated disk, degeneration, aggravated nerves and the like. It makes me sleepy, My eyes start to itch a little...Just like I am REALLY tired. Now, that doesn't mean I sleep super awesome on it but it makes the evenings more relaxing before bed. lol

Thank you for your advice,
I'd heard that the green strains can make people a bit jittery or anxious (and I definitely don't need any help with that, I already have a touch of anxiety/panic attack tendencies anyway).
I agree...getting some samples or buying a few different variety packs sounds like a good idea for a person like myself who's just starting out.
There's so many varieties! I'm still trying to sort out which one has what type of effect.
I love doing research though, so I'll have plenty of time as I'm coming down from my withdrawal to study which strains will work best for me.
Thanks again! :)

Welcome to the best kratom forum ever, Desertgirl19!

Green is in between red (pain) and white/yellow (stimulate, typically).

Gold Leaf Botanicals also has a great sample pack for $17 plus tax. Free shipping.

Green is considered to be the mood lift strain. So go easy on that white. Every white is completely different and some have JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT of energy enhancing to make you glad to have it on dragging as$ days.

LESS IS MORE with dose size while you get started.

The SEARCH field is handy for entering a topic of interest to pull up previous in-depth discussions if we are slow to reply.

Welcome!

I take green strains during the day for work. I found I needed to do a little trial and error with green strains but I have about five different greens(in rotation) that I will use for mood lift/energy and pain relief. I do not get jittery from greens mostly a sense of well being. Reds I use at night for pain relief. Do not get caught up in the details they list that the different red/green/ and whites do.
I had a Red Maeng Da that was too relaxing, and one energizing, and a Red Hulu that would be good for the day.
Whites do make me jittery, I get a lot of energy and too much focus, they do not work as well for me, everybody has a unique experience with Kratom so trying and taking notes is the best way to go.

Quick tips.
Purchase a scale for accurate dosing(for powder)
Learn about tips managing digestion/constipation issues.
Drink lots of water with kratom

One tip I would give is if you have a hard time consuming the powder you can put it in capsules yourself and save a lot of money instead of buying already calculated kratom. I cap my own by hand without a machine. Machines are cheap but sometimes unnecessary. I just do it by hand and end up with really close to about 1 gram per 000 capsule. This way I don't choke on a gross mix, powder or whatever. I can mix it with say OJ but the old toss-n-wash is a big no no for me. All the capsules do to me is it takes a little longer for the effects to come in. No big deal.

I make tea and strain all the plant material because my stomach is weak. Still works great too.

Self made cap tips

Probably better videos
but I figured out filling caps by hand , just scoop and pack both sides and push the gel caps together I can get almost 800mg in a cap and fill 30 to 40 capsules in half and hour (size 00). Its very messy. I also have a scale so I weighed my first few caps to get a better idea. I wanted to post a video because I gave my daughter (occasional kratom user for lupus flares)gel caps to have at work and she was trying to fill the caps with a spoon and it took her at least three minute to fill one cap. I do not enjoy this process but its good to have caps around for travel and quick backup when not at home.
