Hello Moorejeffery89 welcome to the forum-
More doesn't mean you will get "that high". It you chase it by adding more you will hit the ceiling and the result will be very unwanted headaches, nausea, vomiting, and constipation. By upping the dose you are setting a high tolerance level. Kratom has a honeymoon phase where some people get notable euphoria this does not last.
If you are using Kratom for mood lift and energy it will do that but increasing the dose and repeating the dose will not help.
Why a 12 gram dose? Did you start lower and had to increase to that amount to feel anything?
Needing higher doses usually occurs when there is a history of opioids currently using or recently tapered. No judging. this might not be the case.
I would consider trying to taper down your dose. Spacing doses depends what you are taking kratom for and you will need to experiment to find the right schedule for you.
I would lower your dose, maybe a break for a few days is needed, if you are not treating anything chronic.
Also you might need to rotate different strains colors or take kratom with a potentiator .
Finally are you buying good quality Kratom? Head shop Kratom is usually not the best quality.

Everybody who wants to take Kratom should be able to its a natural botanic plant for what ever reasons you are taking it we can still answer your basic questions. Hopefully other will reply soon with their take.

Welcome to the best kratom forum ever, Moorejeffery89!

I agree with Nan70. Since you are only using the plant for a month now, you are, unfortunately, misusing it.

No judging is absolute here. Nan70 is RIGHT ON that, too.

The honeymoon phase is approx the first 3-5 weeks. Soon you will not get euphoria NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO. To properly stretch the honeymoon phase and make it last, you might try bumping your dose back down significantly. The amounts you are using for the "high" are more in line with chronic pain patients in their second year, IF THEN. If you bump your dose way back, you can still get that "high" whilst slowly increasing back up AGAIN like you did before (probably).

NO lectures, tho. Kratom does have natural anti-abuse qualities built in. Your days of getting "high" are numbered by the leaf no matter what.

It's also not healthy to be consuming so much plant material. Many folks have serious complications if they try to use more than 2-4 grams at one time. I use that amount about 3-4 times a day if needed, but I no longer get anything except SOMETIMES improved mood and ideally, pain relief. I'm giving you these examples to guide you on APPROXIMATE proper use of the plant, with no judging or comment, since everyone gets a different experience from each dose :-)

Wishing you well, and please share how you found kratom and what vendor you chose? Thanks for sharing your predicament with us on ILK!

Welcome morejeffery89!! Happy you found the amazing community of Kratom enthusiasts and folks that care !!

The two times I’ve had a headache from dosing was definitely because I hadn’t been hydrated enough, downed a few glasses of water and felt much better in short time ..

While I take Kratom for pain, depression and anxiety symptoms and a fat amount per day, I think nans and Laurie’s suggestion to keeping your dose low is absolutely strategic in the short and long term of utilizing Kratom.

Keeping your tolerance lowered is the key, spacing out your doses as much as you can is very beneficial to keeping the effects strong and keeping your supply lasting longer ... many of us who’ve taken Kratom for a while can verify this ...

I’m envious of those folks who only take a few grams or less and get results ... Ofcourse I can wean /lower my amount over time to get my doses more reasonable but my angle is for pain relieving effects and as of now don’t experience any negative side effects , however the strong “euphoric effects have come and gone( I get them on occasion)but i get the effects I need , keeping my emotional state level, my pain lowered tremendously and my anxiety at a doable coping level,

Kratom is like most tolerance building plants/ medicines.. less is more with Kratom. A suggestion is to not use extracts or only sparingly, as it will raise your tolerance through the roof and that sucks !! Stem and vein ( exactly as it sounds, some vendors carry it)I hear is a great way to lower your tolerance while still getting similar effects like powdered leaf. Since your new to this I would think just lowering your dose and spacing them out is your best bet.

keep yourself consistent with scheduling your doses to meet your needs , less is more and rotation of strains will help keep tolerance down due to different alkaloid
Taking a couple days off a week is not a bad idea , but if using for pain... good idea to keep your dose as low as you can but still getting effects and space out as much as you can ,

Over time and experimenting, you’ll find how to get the best benefits while experiencing little to no negative side effects..

I recommend keeping up on hydration ,keep dosage in check and rotate strains ,

Please let us know how it goes, nice to meet you (L) (c) (L)

I'm trying to lower to 7.5 grams 3 times a day now so I hope that will work. I use kratom for pain and depression...

Thanks for reporting back. Your “euphoric” enjoyment may still be minimal at those levels. You’re definitely getting tolerance as we all do. The more drastic the cut back, the more “euphoric” feelings will return before they basically disappear. Leaving us with managed pain and depression on good days. More good days than ever before! Not “high” but more easily living more of a quality life by getting this subtle relief!

Good thing you slowed down the train. How is your bowel system coping so far? No stomach pain or headache? Hope not. So glad you reached out quickly!

It’s a lot of work getting things dialed in since they are constantly evolving (how we feel before, what we eat, how we sleep. It all affects our results and visa versa).

Good luck. Just try it for one day and see how it goes. We’ll help you strategize from there.

Moorejeffery89, some people do use approx 30 grams over the course a day divided into 3 different doses.
One of the things I like to do it use a lot of different strains and variety of colors in my daily routine.
This helps to keep the good vibes of Kratom fresh and it fights off tolerance.
I like to mix Greens & Reds sometimes a little White in my morning and mid day doses. Then for evenings I like to mix Reds, Yellows, Golds, Buetangies.
My advice is to use a few different vendors and spread your orders out of a lot of different strains/colors and keep the quantity reasonably small. This helps you get a lot of different Alkaloids to work with and keep your Kratom experiences new and Fresh.
You will be amazed at how your body will react to an ever changing kratom menu.

Good Luck.....
