I feel like such an idiot. Been in denial. I've suffered from Daytime Sleepiness, lack of energy, tiredness, fatigue etc...

For years I took Modafinil to combat it. Then for the past month or so I switched to Kratom.

Well I finally gave in and got a Sleep Apnea test. I should have had it done years ago. I had all the symptoms and fit the physical category too.

The test came out that I wasn't even borderline that almost every minute I'd cease to breath, 100s maybe 1000s of times a night I wasn't breathing correctly and my Oxygen level was going down to 56! To give you a perspective when she checked my Oxygen it was at 96 normal. Anything below 80 is problematic and below 60 you are supposed to get Oxygen supplementation.

So they lent me a CPAP Machine, I used it for the first time last night and today I see a night and day change in how I feel.

Now we can't disallow that it might be psychological but today I don't have that chronically tired feeling! The Kratom is affecting me stronger too.

I suspected that I had Sleep Apnea for a very long time. Just my self image is not that of sleeping with a apparatus. I really was acting idiotically.

Back when I used to drink beer EVERY DAY and smoke copious amounts of cannabis, my lady would complain about my snoring . A lot !!

I haven’t heard her complain in a while but I wonder if I still snore out of control, she even mentioned the apnea thing..

Maybe it’s a good idea to get tested just to rule out that possibility, I’m young but no spring chicken,

Good to hear you figured it out , that’s crazy where the oxygen levels where , you must feel tremendously better now that you’ve cracked the code on that =D> (L) :-bd

That's good advice about checking for sleep apnea. I am RT/sleep specialist. Untreated sleep apnea (OSA) can lead to a myriad of undesirable effects including daytime sleepiness, diabetes, stroke, and heart disease just to bame a few. The company I work for does take home sleep test. OSA can effect anyone regardless of age or weight.

Kratering,
That's excellent news to hear that the cpap is helping. I know a couple of people where it has made a big difference in their getting actual rest when they sleep.:-bd

I was tested about 3 months ago to see if it might have been the cause of my headaches but I tested ok.
And then I came to ILK, found kratom, and now I give my headaches the kpow. :silly:
My Grandkids say I’m a cuckoo head. ;)

So true

I've been sleeping and because of the Apnea being starved for Oxygen. The body needs oxygen to regenerate/recover. So I haven't been getting the benefits of sleep. No Oxygen no real rest.

And I have all the symptoms of Sleep Apnea. My Psy Doctor suggested that I get tested around 4 years ago and I went into denial.

Wearing that mask just doesn't fit into my self image.

It’s a big commitment to lifestyle impact and hygiene regimen with cleaning the thing, when for example, we find flossing to be too time consuming - I get it. Certainly not sexy for spontaneity...I get it.

My ex husband went without hearing me for much of our marriage because of his self image. Eventually he hadn’t heard me for TOO LONG.
He got hearing aids eventually and they were impossible to notice. He wouldn’t wear them around the house, tho. He was only interested in hearing OTHER PEOPLE.

I’m glad you’re making a healthful change for YOURSELF, Kratering, because self care is really a gift to your loved ones.

Taking proper care of ourselves is important so we can BE PRESENT for people who love us. It’s a HARD JOB, always room for improvement...!

Oxygen deprivation can cause dementia and all kinds of health decline! I don’t think many of us take it seriously enough. I try to remember to BREATHE or I find myself holding my breath ALL THE TIME without realizing it. It’s a bad habit I’m trying to pay more attention to.

Kratering,
Image isn't everything. I think breathing is more important. I could be wrong though. :-?

I'm sorry Laurie, what were you saying I wasn't listening. :woohoo:
Just teasing. I do the same with my wife and the rest of my family. They've learned to ignore me and tease me back.

I used to hate flossing, now I'm addicted to it which drives my wife crazy. I can't stand anything to be stuck in my teeth.
