Hello folks! I will cut to the chase. I have been a Kratom user for about five years. Luckily, I do not suffer from any chronic pain and solely use Kratom for anxiety. I am diagnosed with generalized anxiety and clinical depression. My story is like many in that finding Kratom was a life altering moment.

Cut to today. My Kratom consumption probably would gag many. I am actually embarrassed to share my amount! Now, if money were not an issue, I would not care. But, it is. I am finding that practically all my spare income is going towards it's purchase. So things like getting hair cuts, purchasing items for my home, even the purchase of my prescribed medications are inhibited. That's not good! But, life without Kratom is not good either!

I purchase kilos and with this last purchase I figured it into daily baggies that should last me two weeks. While I am sure, again to most, this would still be an astronomical amount, it is around 4+ doses less than I am used to....and it IS doable for me in that I am not really suffering much. It simply reminds me how it was before I found Kratom...blah!

Have any of you been in a similar situation and how did you deal with it. Thanks and this forum is wonderful!!!

I wish you the best in tapering. I have seen suggestions here I have not the experience. I am one of those low dose people. You should get feedback soon, If not I will be back later and find a link to something appropriate.

Tips for tapering down your dose- use turmeric with all your doses this helps with tolerance issues. Try adding a high saturated fat before your dose or with. Coconut oil has the highest at 12 grams it should help make your less dose feel more.

Are You using a scale to weigh your doses you can taper down a little bit at a time this way.

Less is more is hard for some, believe that it is true.

Good luck!

Hi Shemme,

Thanks for sharing that! It really touches me after a great 12 step meeting about self honesty today. Not to sound preachy! My point is that self awareness and honesty is magical. Perhaps a local trusted friend can help you stay accountable to allowed doses like a methadone clinic would be? Only allowing you certain amounts?

I sympathize! I’m glad you’re looking at things for your health AND HAPPINESS. We got your back!

>:D

I hate to suggest buying supplements when you're already feeling a financial pinch.

But maybe for now you have two common ingredients in your cupboard that could give you the most bang per Kratom dose. As Nan70 said you could start using a bit of oil every time you take Kratom. Even some butter should help.

If your tummy doesn't mind you could take a wee bit of black pepper with each teaspoon of Kratom. I once did the math, and IIRC 100 mg. of a decent black pepper should have enough piperine, which gets marketed as a supplement, to inhibit the enzyme which causes Kratom, and drugs, to get marked for elimination from your system. So don't use black pepper with some drugs, especially SSRI ones, if that's going to be an issue. If you're doctor said no grapefruit juice with your medication, then that could be a warning not to take a lot of black pepper either.

I often take a bit less than an eighth of a teaspoon of black pepper with my Kratom.

Black Seed oil can help with tolerance to Kratom, but it's pricey unless you buy by the pint, and so too can the amino acid Agmatine help with tolerance. Lots of Kratom fans use powdered Agmatine.

And plain old Ginger root powder can help with tolerance.

Edit: My memory of the math of piperine per gram of pepper was off. Even one milligrams of black pepper might have more than enough, so you could start below that amount. I take just a tiny amount on a teaspoon.

I can't re-edit my above post, I made too many adjustments. But I meant to say that even 100 milligrams of black pepper might be more than enough, so start below that amount if you're going to try it.

I know I use kratom a lot more than some folks .... for sure!! The thing about the less is more fact....it is spot on..
I used to take 3tsp doses 3-5x a day.... now I take 2tsp doses 3-5x a day .... it’s hard to grasp but for me the lesser dose always feels more powerful than the higher dose..... my point is that cutting your dose down by a 1/3 is a great start in the direction that sounds like you want to be going in.... from there you can cut out a dose , or just lower it a little at a time so tolerance is dropping as you are also experiencing the other alkaloids that get covered up by bigger doses....

Yo can totally do this if that’s the honest choice you make , and I believe you’ll be shocked at how much benefit your able to feel by cutting down the volume and frequency of doses !!

You got this , be good and kind to yourself ....and good luck !!(L) We’re here , oceans of support my friend !!!

Just a thought-
Make sure your digestive health is in check. Not meaning the flow of the pipes, that too but also the ability to absorb nutrients. Sometime that gets thrown off. Even kratom might be the cause it is a insoluble fiber and if you are having known or unknown intestinal issues insoluble fiber is not a big help.
Look into digestive enzymes, probiotics, and yes the very affordable baking soda, sometime a spoonful a day is very helpful.
Not everybody goes the way of more is more, sometimes its an absorption issue that pushes up the kratom dose.

Lets us know how it goes.

Hello, your story could me my story, just cannot get on track for the help kratom once gave me through the day, too much too tired, not enough, just a little help, nothing like the help i had just about a month ago. I have started to rely on my anti=anxiety perscription, which I do not like. I have tried tapering with gabapentin, which really helps, but terrified of becoming addicted. Hope someone can help, both of us..good luck! Any advice on using gabapentin for a break would really be appreciated too. Thank you all!!
