Have tried red md and red Bali. The red md did well for me. 6gr.@6:30AM, then sometimes a smaller dose at 12PM. I'm 290lbs. Pain relief was moderate, but insomnia would result with two doses. Red Bali is basically useless. Different vendors though. Wondering if green md would relieve pain as well and have no insomnia with two doses. Really looking for red vs. green md first for opinions on pain relief and how you feel later in the day with each after a second dose. Also what about the different strains with the funny names besides MD? How do they differ? Help please! My back is begging for help! Thanks!

Welcome to the best kratom forum ever, tdr121!

My vote is to cut the dose in half and please note that body weight has no value in determining dosage. Starting with too much is much less helpful for ANYTHING.

Your red vein will be of more use to you at 2-3 grams AND THEN weigh effects from the different colors before deciding to try more.

I absolutely sympathize with the insomnia issue and cutting the dose in half MAY solve that but may not. But getting a proper dose will be much more enjoyable for you. You’ll get some more thoughts on this and I look forward to hearing from you after dose adjustment (if you trust us about your weighing more not affecting your required dose like with other substances where this would likely be true. Not with kratom).

Thanks for bringing the question for meeting everyone!
Laurie

I use green strains for pain management during day at work.
This works very well for me especially if taken in the morning before my pain acts up at a lower or moderate dose(I lower my greens strain dose compared to slightly higher for reds)

But I have run into some greens that are not effective enough for pain management because of duration issues so I did a lot of sampling now I have 5 to 6 that I rotate that have been remarkable for me.

If Reds keep you up you might find greens make you tired only trying for yourself is the way to know. kratom is very subjective.

You might need to try a different Red like Borneo or Malay. Kratom strain names really mean very little you need to find a few different vendors and do some sample packs. That being said Malays, Bentuangies in general are very relaxing.

In short- greens might give you energy but you might be an "opposite" person. Branch out to a few other Reds.Try a few sample packs.

Welcome to the forum. Ask any question you need. We are here to support each other and help with pain management and quality of life issues.

Welcome to ILK tdr121. Happy to have you here. Kratom has so many Variables. Please don't give up on Kratom. It will work for you. You just have to find the Correct Dosage & the Best Strains for your Body Chemistry that Work Best for you.

I would Suggest Red Malay, Green Malay or Any Bentuangie strain. Also try lowering your dose little by little & see if that helps any. I don't recommend taking over 10 grams at the Absolute Highest. I Recommend trying around 4 grams & see how that does. If that don't work then I would try mixing several different strains together like 1 gram each of 4 stains for a total of 4 grams. Just an example. You can Blend each strain Percentage however you want to.

You can also take Potentiators that will actually make Kratom Stronger. I Recommend taking Turmeric Extract with Black Pepper, Vitamin C, Cayenne Pepper or Black Seed Oil. Another Fantastic Herb for Pain is Incarvillea Sinensis. Be sure it is the 20:1 Extract because that is the only one that actually works. Another good one for pain is Akuamma Seed.

Also try making Order for at least 6 different strains in a sample pack from a Reliable Vendor like the Vendors that are Approved here On ILK. Anyway these are just all Suggestions. Just giving you some Options since your 2 strains that you tried didn't help you out. Let us know what Helps. Just try one Option at a time until something works for you.
If anybody has any Questions about Kratom please private message me or make a Post & I will be glad to answer as soon as I can usually within 24 hours if not sooner. I'm usually on really late at night Between Midnight & 5am.

Reds are usually best for pain relief, greens are moderate for that. As most others have said, you need to find a strain that matches you. It may take some time to find a good vendor with strains that work well for you. Good to know though that most vendors do samples for you to try to find the good strains easier.

I've had the best results from red thai.

For the names, most vendors base them off the area where the kratom comes from, with sometimes other qualities... I.E. elephant has really big leaves, horned has horned leaves...etc. Maeng Da in indonesian literally means "pimp grade." It usually is a fine grind and is that vendor's perceived best stuff. It can sometimes mean that the kratom was harvested during dry season (higher alkaloid content). It depends vendor to vendor.
