This morning I took 1.2g of my zaps blend in warm water with lime juice. Had my raisin bran with and espresso for breakfast 15 min after that. 30 mins later I took 2 tsp of coconut oil.
About 30 minutes after that I felt a bit spacey which isn't normal with that dose of zaps in lime juice followed by that breakfast.

3 hours later at work I got very queasy and had to leave a meeting. No idea if I'm just getting sick or it had something to do with the coconut oil, which never bothered me before. :-?

Trying to figure this stuff out can make me nuttier than I already am. :woohoo:

Babel,
Thank you for that explanation. :-bd

Would mixing the dose with grapefruit juice or citric acid first change how the oil interacts when it is taken 15 to 30 minutes later? :-?

Taking oil with your Tea might not be a good idea if you're stomach acid is low, and you're taking an enthusiast's amount of Tea.
I think it's ideal when the oil reaches the inside of the Kratom powder's cell walls along with the acid in your stomach. Think of your stomach as a dish in a lab, and you're trying to do an extraction.

The MCT portion of the coconut oil is really good at zipping around the body, and it even gets used by the brain as fuel. But if the tea powder is soaking up the oil then that's going to make it resistant to acid in your stomach.

Think of your skin coated by coconut oil. It will have some protection from a dilute acid. Put the acid on first, then the coconut oil, and it's a different story.

I'll say, wait a half an hour, or at least fifteen minutes, after taking Tea before having an oil as a second course.

Edit: Oil can penetrate the cell wall of the Tea, or at least it does with Kava root powder, but it's not as fast as an acid can be, and I think it "clogs the pores", so to speak, of the powder, thus blocking it from working as well.

Afaik people don't use acidic fluids to break down Kava, just water, and/or fat/oil like milk, and sometimes alcohol. Gotta drink a lot of Kava for the full effect, so I can see why they don't want an acidic drink. When using alcohol they usually evaporate that off. That's more common for making extracts anyway.

When using water or oil they use a bag to hold the mix, over a bowl, so can work the hell out of it with their hands, and that too is a big difference.

Nan, >:D
Liz is doing better now that they finally gave her the antibiotic for the UTI. She still has occasional issues with neck, shoulder, and sciatica pain but the massages and chiropractor are helping a lot with that. :-bd
I think we would both do better if we lost some weight. We haven't been able to have consistent daily walks due to bad weather. :(
Our daily calorie intake is only between 1600 and 2000 calories so I guess we need to go even lower. :(

It wasn't the MCT - Coconut Oil that I wasn't understanding, it was the other link to the article "Understanding the Physicochemical Properties of Mitragynine, a Principal Alkaloid of Mitragyna speciosa, for Preclinical Evaluation"
It is a little much for my addled brain.

I stopped taking the coconut oil when I ran out of the pint I bought back in Sept. I was taking 1 tblsp with my kratom dose. For me it made the dose take longer to start working and it also seemed to moderate the effects to not be as is my normal for a specific strain. This was great for the reds not being as sedating and whites to cut back on jitters but it seemed to lessen the good for the Green Riau and my headaches. :-?
I really wish I had the time and dedication for taking good notes and being consistent in the evaluation of the potentiators I have tried. I know that because I'm not that I don't trust my results so far.

Hugs to all the ladies >:D >:D >:D >:D >:D >:D >:D >:D :cheer:

Yeah i misspelled this MCT oil, oupsy. Thats great to know it works for you Nan! I just tried it so will report after a few more times.

I switched to a ketogenic diet for a few weeks last year to see if it would help with the pain. I dont think i have stayed on it long enough to see that but it definitely makes a difference in energy levels, mood stability and i little something i can't describe other than "it felt better". I came back to usual diet most days but i regularly have a high fat low carb day or two at a time and i kept the habit of intermittent fasting, which kratom seems to naturally make me wanna do that.

I have been taking my Kratom dose with a teaspoon of Coconut oil for months now. For me it noticeably potentiates the Kratom, at first the results were undesirable because I got slight nausea, it helps make my normal dose more potent. More kratom for me does not mean better my body's own ceiling effect does not allow me to increase my dose, I just feel sick not relieved. I have adjusted and feel it helps with tolerance- still same dose after more than 2 years taking kratom.

Turmeric(also helps with tolerance) absorption is better when taken with a high saturated fat and pepper.

If you try a high saturated fat, MCT. Start small, it does increase the metabolism, you might initially get a headache. Work your way up to a table spoon. I still cannot do a tablespoon.
I tried a teaspoon of coconut oil on empty stomach before my morning workout, try this you will notice a difference. I now put it my tea and coffee.

Don & Richard- this is my easier to understand go to www.healthline.com/nutrition/mct-oil-benefits for us peeps who need a little hand holding. speaking of hand holding, Don- I hope your sweetheart is doing better, sending love.

Medium Chain Triglyceride? That sounds like a misspelled acronym.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medium-chain_triglyceride#Dietary_relevance

Dietary relevance

Molecular weight analysis[3] of milk from different species showed that while milk fats from all studied species were primarily composed of long-chain fatty acid (16 and 18 carbons long), approximately 10–20% of the fatty acids in milk from horses, cows, sheep, and goats were medium-chain fatty acids.

Some studies have shown that MCTs can help in the process of excess calorie burning, thus weight loss.[4][5][6] MCTs are also seen as promoting fat oxidation and reduced food intake.[7] MCTs have been recommended by some endurance athletes and the bodybuilding community.[8] While health benefits from MCTs seem to occur, a link to improved exercise performance is inconclusive.[7] A number of studies back the use of MCT oil as a weight loss supplement, but these claims are not without conflict, as about an equal number found inconclusive results.[9]
Medical relevance

MCTs passively diffuse from the GI tract to the portal system (longer fatty acids are absorbed into the lymphatic system) without requirement for modification like long-chain fatty acids or very-long-chain fatty acids. In addition, MCTs do not require bile salts for digestion. Patients who have malnutrition, malabsorption or particular fatty-acid metabolism disorders are treated with MCTs because MCTs do not require energy for absorption, use, or storage.

Medium-chain triglycerides are generally considered a good biologically inert source of energy that the human body finds reasonably easy to metabolize. They have potentially beneficial attributes in protein metabolism, but may be contraindicated in some situations due to a reported tendency to induce ketogenesis and metabolic acidosis.[10] However, there is other evidence demonstrating no risk of ketoacidosis or ketonemia with MCTs at levels associated with normal consumption,[5] and that the moderately elevated blood ketones can be an effective treatment for epilepsy.[11]

Due to their ability to be absorbed rapidly by the body, medium-chain triglycerides have found use in the treatment of a variety of malabsorption ailments. MCT supplementation with a low-fat diet has been described as the cornerstone of treatment for Waldmann disease.[12] MCTs are an ingredient in some specialised parenteral nutritional emulsions in some countries.[13][14] Studies have also shown promising results for epilepsy through the use of ketogenic dieting.[11][15][16]
