Hi, I've been scouring the internet and can't find any information on crushed leaf that sounds reliable. I've been watching ilovekratom for a while but have never posted. I'm experienced with t&w powdered kratom but not with crushed leaf. I bought a kilo of Red Vein Remahan crushed leaf from a reliable vendor and it doesn't smell at all like powdered kratom.
Is this typical? I'm having visions of it being swept up from some dirty floor or something. Also, if anyone has good advice on making tea with it, I'd be grateful. There is a lot of conflicting info on making tea. I'm attaching a photo if that helps. Thanks!

Welcome to the best kratom forum ever, roberts!

I’m not helpful for discerning the smell of kratom. My nose is not sensitive enough. I’m super curious as to why you got a full kilo of crushed leaf without a plan. But it makes a lovely tea by simply using a tea strainer and heated water. The less complicated approach is often the most beneficial, but other folks will post alternative suggestions for you.

Might depend on the benefit sought - pain relief versus mood lifting, etc.

Thanks Laurie. I had heard that one can make tea from it and the price was right. I expected it to have a similar taste and smell to powdered kratom but was surprised to find that it doesn't. Maybe it has to do with how it's processed compared to powdered, but I'm hoping someone here can help me out on that.
I did make tea with it but would be hard pressed to call it "lovely". It was pretty bad tasting, and I do not find powdered kratom offensive at all.
Anyway, thanks for the welcome and we'll see if anyone can chime in. I generally use it for pain relief. 7 knee surgeries and now a torn rotator cuff...

Yes, crushed leaf tastes and smells different usually, at least mine does. I mainly use in teas, not for T&W (I only use powder for that), but tasting it is much more mild and bearable. Same with the smell. I suspect that this is from the lack of surface area that it has vs. the powder (finely ground allows much more absorption of both smell and tastes).

I use a cast iron kettle with a stainless built in stainer for mine. I typically mix in some blue lotus petals and some oolong, black leaves, or matcha. Warm to 180-185 and allow to cool. Pour and then add some honey and pass out :)

Feel free to ask me anything.

What up brother Roberts !!??

My guess as to the smell is that the kratom is in a more whole form, not ground up which would release more / different aromatic compounds through more exposure to oxidation ... should smell like dried leaves lol!!

hey Roberts!

glad to have you here you came to the right place! we can learn together I just got my first bag of crushed leaf about a month ago. by accident. literally. the vendor made up for this 'mistake' but told me to keep it. had no clue. I made a couple small pots for 1 so far.

I also use the leaf for pain and my tolerance is pretty high. I use kratom to work; and I work on my feet so my experiences might vary a bit.

I use a steel cylinder infuser and fill it. never measured the amount, just stuffed it in. holds about 3 tablespoons of product or so ( I know that weighs less than powder ) and it was enough to make about 3 8oz servings. or 2 monster cups.

it gave me a different feeling. not bad just different. but the effect isn't as in your face as powder. now that its getting cold ill make more for a night wind down. and yes a good amount of honey. maybe lemon and/ or ginger even add a regular lea bag for flavor.

I hope you finds what works with you.
